Cooking school and restaurant of Khmer and Thai food operating since 2000. Come learn traditional Khmer dishes at our home kitchen using clay pots, steamers and banana leaves
Vanak and his crew were welcoming, fun, and very hospitable! His cooking class was a great way to experience the real local culture and cuisine. We stumbled upon his restaurant while walking through Battambang, and were pleasantly surprised to find that he spoke near perfect English, and it was easy to arrange for a group of 5 for the class. We were a little hesitant (because of traffic) and intimidated to ride the moto and hitch the 3 km to his village where the school is, but we arrived safely, with no troubles at all. A highlight was when we stopped at the local market to pick up food for the menu items we planned. It was the real deal. We sampled some local favorites, including roasted rat, pig ear, and some local fruits. This was all optional, of course, but my friends and I really dove in, with Vanak’s guidance. The dishes we made were easy and tasty, and we definitely feel like we could make them again at home. We had a great time!

Things to do in Battambang, Nary Kitchenn and Restaurant offers Khmer food cooking classes in English for travellers.
Nary kitchen is a „must visit” Restaurant in Battambang ! The food is delicious and the cooking class was a great pleasure. We started with a visit to a local market where we bought some ingredients and then came back to cook 4 little delicious dishes - Fish Amok, Fried spring rolls, Beef Lot Lak and banana with tapioca and coconut milk dessert. Everything accompanied with Chef Nary (beautiful smiling Khmer woman) and her housband. The cooking class is professional and very well prepared- each person cuts, fries, smashes and prepare her own dishes. The whole activity is really value for money- especially considering that at the end- you eat your dishes ! :) very nice atmosphere - very recommended! thank you!

Great little cafe right next to the river in Battambang. Run as a social Enterprise, the Cafe has a boutique featuring local art, clothing, jewelry. Menu consists of an eclectic mix of owner Anna's international culinary experience paired with Australian Chef Dom execution and imagination. Great little environment, family friendly. Free WIFI and Air Conditioning and wonderful Espresso! Also we have a conference room upstairs for large teams.
I had the hungry man breakfast (4 eggs, toast, hash browns, bacon, toppings) which was a good amount of food. You have the option to add a number of toppings on your eggs, unfortunately some of the toppings that I asked for didn’t come. I’m not a big fan of their homemade bread, it’s quite crumbly. Still a tasty western style breakfast. Cost was $5.50 USD

Enjoy your breakfast, lunch and dinner in our restaurant or private balcony. Our restaurant serves some of the best Asian and Western food in Battambang. Upstairs you can enjoy your favourite drink while you watch the sunset. We also organise barbecues (min. 4 Pax). Our restaurant-bar is open from 7am till 10pm.
Uncertain what to order? Want to try several things? The Battambang Resort Restaurant offers a Khmer sampler with five or six different dishes - lok lak, curry, fresh spring rolls, morning glory, dessert,... can't remember it all, but what I remember is that it was DELICIOUS! Also, my youngest was not a fan of Khmer food but found that the cheeseburger and fries competes with any he's had back at home. Other items we enjoyed - the spicy beef salad, the cashew chicken (the local cashews are so yummy!), the amok, the phad thai. All dishes can be made vegetarian with tofu and veggies. I'm drooling just thinking about it.

The Lonely Tree Café is a social Enterprise with the goal to obtain profits to help finance the social projects of the Apostolic Prefecture of Battambang. The projects we support cover a wide range of humanitarian aid including education, support for the disabled, healthcare and preservation of Cambodian cultural heritage. At the Lonely Tree Café we give employment to underprivileged and disabled people: the staff consist of vulnerable youth and most of the products sold in the Lonely Tree Store are crafted by people with physical disabilities who are in permanent need.
A beautifully restored Chinese shop house. Downstairs selling good Cambodian produced clothing, scarves etc.
Upstairs is a delightful restaurant in a very sensitively renovated space. At the back, a semi open, courtyard style bar area. An inside dining area opening out at the front to a tiny balcony overlooking quiet street 2.5 below.
Well cooked Asian favourites and a few international staples make up a compact menu.
Throw in friendly and attentive service and this place has a lot going for it.

Chicken noodle with dumplings. This slight me made my trip worth it. Fried dumplings, 6 different noodle dishes and two rice dishes filled our large group.
Inexpensive, quick, relatively clean and excellent food. No regrets from me except I didn’t have another day to go back.

Jaan Bai is a home for folks who share our love of gatherings around the table, our passion for food and our interest in supporting Cambodian youth. We are focused on the training and professional development of Cambodian youth, with all profits going towards the overall sustainability of CCT. Our cuisine is all about the simplicity of well crafted, nourishing and wholesome recipes. We use seasonal organic produce sourced from our kitchen garden, local farmers and neighbouring markets. This project has been made possible by Vittoria Coffee, Australia. Open 11:00 - 10:00 (kitchen closes at 9:00) Tuesday - Sunday.
When we arrived in Battambang, the rain was thunderously poring down and everywhere seemed flooded. Our driver dropped us at the front door of Jaan Bai. This is a very pleasant small restaurant that trains local young people. We had beers with our lunch which was simply prepared but was really good. The service was also very good and very pleasant.

If I lived in Battambang this little restaurant / bar would be my neighborhood spot. The french owner is super nice and what about staff! They are awesome. The 7$ cold cuts and cheeses places is a SUPER deal and just wonderful. Accompanied by a small pinot noir at $ 20! Wow! We were in paradise! All ingredients are fresh. Go go go, you won’t regret it.

Coconut is a family restaurant in the heart of Battambang serving traditional Cambodian cuisine and good relaxed atmosphere. We go to the market every morning to select the quality and freshness of all ingredients. Our cooking school prepare of traditional Cambodian dishes twice daily
We had lunch at the restaurant, freshly cooked, tasty and good portion size. The staff were friendly, chatty (good English) and service was efficient but they weren’t busy at the time. Would recommend the veg stir fry with tofu and the ginger with chicken. Very reasonable prices too for the quality of food.
They also run a cookery school AM and PM for $10 pp which seems pretty reasonable although we didn’t have time to try it.
Can’t wait to try their fish amok here during our stay in Battambang.
