Designated the capital city of Kazakhstan in the late 1990s, Astana boasts a landscape glittering with new architecture and construction projects as the government infrastructure continues to be built. Old and new quarters of the city are divided by the Ishim River, with older, Soviet era structures on the north side while the governmental quarter and monuments like the monolithic Bayerek Tower spread out to the south. The central Avenue of the Republic is a hub of entertainment and business.

Built to resemble a castle, this is a popular and pricey Western-Style eatery on Kenesary Sreet just past Pobeda street.
A very popular and well known place (pub) in Astana. This place offers great craft beers, but menu prices are higher than elsewhere. Great place to hangout for the upper class of Astana.Thank you very much for your feedback. We'll be glad to read your opinion about our second restaurant which is on EXPO territory.

Authentic Kazakh cuisine mixed with European dishes, Italian specialties, and the only ethnic show program in town make this restaurant a real Astana Landmark.
The title says it all. Food here was bland and irrelevant. It was the least tasteful meal of our three weeks in Kazakhstan. Service was okay, and the Terrace not a bad place to sit. But servings were slow and - well, again: the title tells it all. Go somewhere else, there are other good eateries in the city and area.

Spacious restaurant with a very big variety of salads, pasta and pizza. All with the finest ingredients. And the desserts including gelato is just wonderful. Prices for starter followed by main dish and a pot of tea are about $20 for 2 people.

I haven't seen such a big Korean restaurant outside of Korea. The size is pretty amazing. The service is also great, everybody tried to accommodate our group's need. The taste is almost traditional & authentic but it is a bit fusion with local flavors, too. Usually horse meat couldn't be found in Korean menu but this is a local specialty. Definitely worth a visit when you are in Astana.

This restaurant, partly outdoors, gets prettier and prettier as it gets darker and the lights come on. Being outside, you can see the lights of big buildings around as well. There are enclosed Seating areas as well. Waiters wear exotic costume but spoke very little English on the night that we were there. Despite miming and using Google translate, we ended up with mayonnaise instead of butter for the very nice bread selection. The plov (rice, carrots, cumin, lamb) was good, though some of the meat pieces were fattier than I prefer. Our meal for two with one course, bread, one beer and one soft drink came to about £12. We went on a Thursday evening and needed no reservation.

Among ex sovietic republics the georgian food tradition is the richest and the most tasteful. Wide choice of food from meat to vegs to fish and pies like xachapuri. The restaurant is set in the centre of astana closes very late in the night. Reccomended!

Very trendy and comfortabel restaurant with moderate prices compared to Europe. You can try Beshbermak and all the other Kazakh favourites here. They have a huge selsection of horse meat specialities from Kazy to steak. Manti are great and Beshbermak very good as well.
Be warned: Kazakh food is very "special" in many ways so you have to be an very interested and accepting eater especially for thigs like Kumys (fermented mare's milk).
Staff was friendly but a little bit lost when dealing with foreigners as they spoke very little English but their welcoming Kazakh attitude compensated for this little inconvenience. Seeting is very relaxed and they accept major credit cards.
Try their traditional desserts after a generous serving of horse and mutton and have some vodka...just in case. Fantastic experience if you like bizzare foods (at least for Western standards).
