A very friendly place with excellent staff. Plenty of interesting about local maritime history and Australia’s role in the naval war in the Pacific in WWII. With a great bonus of a large model network display that any kid and most Dads would find captivating.

Out of town you will find Point Lowly light house set on a rocky part of the ocean, the whole beach area is just covered with rocks. There is accommodation cottages and a dormitory that people can pay to stay in, a bit steep for us, but a group can probably afford to stay.

Wow! Up close and personal with these magnificent creatures.
Fishermen are happy to chat to you as the dolphins follow the fishing boats in.
Dolphins come right up to wharf so lots of photo opportunities. Was very careful not to touch the dolphins even though the temptation was there.
Just beautiful and an enjoyable find

The Whyalla Conservation Park is little gem and its key feature - Wild Dog Hill - includes a picnic spot and walking track leading to the top provides a clear, expansive views of the park and surrounding areas.
A visit to the top of Wild Dog Hill at sunrise or sunset reveals the area at its best. Great for a contemplative visit.
NB - Major tracks are suited to conventional vehicles, except after heavy rains.

This walk takes visitors through the old part of Whyalla and shares the town's unique cultural, social and industrial heritage. The walk covers a distance of almost 2 kilometres and passes a couple of places that you can pause to grab a refreshment and meet a friendly local.

It's the place to go for information on what to see and do in Whyalla. Even if you arrive in the evening after it is closed it is well worth a visit the following day. On the Sunday we visited, we found Danielle to be very helpful and friendly.
The Visitor Centre also serves as the entrance to the Whyalla Maritime Museum, and the booking and departure point for tours of the Whyalla Steelworks. It has maps and brochures to give away and souvenirs for sale.

We went with a 4 and 5yo. We were hoping to do glow in the dark bowling but came at the wrong time. The lovely lady put on the lights just for us. Price was reasonable. Lanes were excellent and the children's bowling frames were very straight. Much better than AMF in the city.
