At The Maison Dumulon, you can learn the story of how Rouyn-Noranda started and after the visit you can buy all sorts of souvenirs and regional products. It's the first time that I have seen beaver pelts for sale. One negative is the lack of nearby parking.

Parc National d'Aiguebelle

A true natural jewel of the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region, Parc national d'Aiguebelle is home to a variety of geological phenomenon with evocative names: giant's kettle, pillow lava...A 22-metre-high suspended walkway offers a thrilling crossing over a gigantic fault. From this vantage point you can admire scenery that has been deeply marked by the work of billions of years. A wide range of discovery activities explore a diversity of wildlife species: moose, beaver, mink, heron and osprey, to name just a few. In winter and summer alike, Parc national d'Aiguebelle is the perfect spot to take your time!

Parc D'Aiguebelle is one of the best provincially administered parks in Canada. The campground is well laid out and well maintained. The hiking trails are amazing... be sure to visit the trails with the suspended pedestrian bridge or the spiral stairs or the fire tower. The staff are very friendly and very helpful. We can't wait for our next visit.

Parc Botanique a Fleur D'Eau

This is the number one attraction in Rouyn-Noranda, for us at least. We loved these Gardens and found the information centre very useful. Not only did it have literature about things to see and do locally but an informed staff member to answer questions. It also has clean washrooms.
However, it is the Gardens that are the true attraction. They are both beautiful and well-maintained. One end has an interesting display on local minerals and a playground for the children. There is also a large natural wetland. Wonderful spot.

This was an unusual idea for a vacation - tour a smelter. The Horne company has an excellent tour available in French or English. It starts in one of the old homes in town and after getting suited up in safety equipment you are driven to the smelter site. It was very informative and our tour guide Felix was excellent!

Bonne vacance.

Circuit Abitibi Karting

Reviewed By BigK_Roadster - Montreal, Canada

We purchased a "Grand Prix" with our friends. When we raced, we could easily see that the Karts were uneven. There is a long straight and people would clearly go at different speeds in the straight line. Two of the karts broke down during the race for no apparent reason. One of our friends mistakenly bumped into another Kart, and the owner, which was by the track, ran towards that individual as he was racing and smacked the red flag on his helmet as he was passing by him. The owner than took him out of the race for a small bump and was extremely upset for no apparent reason. I will never go back for all these reasons
