Mossel Bay is a harbour town of about 130,000 people on the Southern Cape (or Garden Route) of South Africa. It is an important tourism and farming region of the Western Cape Province. Mossel Bay lies 400 kilometres east of the country's seat of parliament, Cape Town (which is also the capital city of the Western Cape Province), and 400 km west of Port Elizabeth, the largest city in the Eastern Cape Province. The older parts of the town occupy the north-facing side of the Cape St Blaize Peninsula, whilst the newer suburbs straddle the Peninsula and have spread eastwards along the sandy shore of the Bay.

The place offers outstanding views! Depending on the trail you take, it can be tiring. Also, in the morning, the ants in the way are annoying! Even after used insect repellent, the get you. In the afternoon, when we came back, we did not see them.

A great source of information about the voyages of discovery. It really highlights how extraordinary these early explorers were setting off into the unknown in the smallest of vessels. The mind boggles. The development of cartography is also well covered - all amazing and very well done.

Steeped in history, ReedValley was established on one of the oldest farms in the Mossel Bay district and now boasts a selection of export wines. Our tasting venue is the only physical location where you can enjoy our wines. We also offer authentic Portuguese food and our large fire place ensures a cozy atmosphere even in the coldest weather. There is also a play area for kids.
I would like to thank ReedValley (especially our host, Peter) for making this day memorable.
If they take their reviews seriously, I would like to tell ReedValley that Peter is surely an asset for them.
We got to learn so much about wines, south african culture and cuisine. The blends of the wines were simply amazing.
The dessert wines were our favorite and we would love to get some bottles delivered to our country soon.

It's a must when you are in Mossel Bay. You only go there for the view. You will see the whole of Mossel Bay and is Spectacular. When we were up there a couple got engaged.

The Diaz Express provides a scenic rail experience between Hartenbos and Great Brak River in the Garden Route of South Africa. The railway line is winding through a tunnel, over Bridges, past precipices and indigenous plant life, with beautiful views over the Indian Ocean. Coupled with this excursion, is the fine cuisine and wines of the Transkaroo restaurant, in the old station building.
Being tour operators, my wife and I, are always looking for that unusual experience for our senior citizen clients. The Diaz Express train ride from Hartenbos to Great Brak proved to be that 'out of the ordinary' experience!
The Diaz Express has three bright blue 'carriages' - Tom, Dick and Harry - and our group filled one carriage with the 'overflow' sitting in the driver's carriage. The driver and his assistant were both friendly and most helpful.
In Great Brak we opted for a pub lunch at OppiSpoor Pub & Grill, where the service was prompt and the food good. On the return trip we stopped at Seeplaas for tea and to view the magnificent art on display.
Keep your eyes peeled for the bird life and the occasional 'bokkie' running across the tracks.
A thoroughly enjoyable 4 hour trip, suitable for the whole family.

Located at the beginning the of Garden Route (a touristic region in the Western Cape), this casino is complete with all the contraptions the gamblers enjoys. I am not a gambler, however, there are many things to do outside of the machines or the game rooms. There are a couple of restaurants offering good food choices at reasonable prices. Periodic shows are available and well-known artists also perform at this casino.
Childcare is offered in a safe environment. There is a Southern Sun hotel attached to the Casino, and of course, the world-famous Pinnacle Point golf resort is right next door.
There is free Wi-Fi and also parking is plentiful.

Nkonzo Bush Academy is a popular and highly regarded destination for research, conservation and ecotourism.
If you want to get a really taste of South Africa with two wonderful guides, this is the place to go! :-) I had the best time of my life, spending time with wild animals, slpeeing in a (comfy) tent and spending the evening around a fire! I would go back in a heartbeat if I could!
