Biescas (Spanish pronunciation: [ˈbi̯es.kas]) is a municipality of northeastern Spain close to the border with France, in the midst of the Pyrenees in the province of Huesca. The name seems to provide from the term bizka, which means "hill" in a Proto-Indo-European language.

La cuniacha is a zoological park located in the forested slopes of a mountainous area near the small town of Piedrafita, in the Pyrennes of the Huesca province of Spain. The visit is conceived as a hike uphill on foot through the beautiful woods until you reach the highest point, and then return downhill to the entrance again by a different path. During the hike you encounter the animals within their enclosures. Some of them are accessible and so you may get to see deer and mountain goats in semi freedom next to you. They also have bear, bison, lynx, wild horses and other european mountain fauna. Very recommendable to combine a zoo visit with a mountain hike. The food and drink facilities are not to be praised, better to carry your own food and eat it in a very pleasant open dining area watching the animals.

It's in the middle of nowhere a 2 hour drive from Pamplona or an hour from Huesca but it's absolutely beautiful. It is quick as the reviews say but the views are breathtaking. You have a short walk from the office to the start of the zip line and then a minibus collects you at the end. It was definitely worth it!

Olivan is not easy to get to but checking on this pre-Romanesque church makes the detour worthwhile. It is in a style which several churches located within short drive follow. . It has a semicircular abside ( apse) with short outside columns sustaining the roof. small and wooden roofs. They were built at the end of the 900 or very early 1000. The interior is just stone and simple columns. They have been restored by local friends and are one of those hidden Spanish jewels.

Biescas Aventura offers everything an adventure park should offer. The climbs, the obstacles, the rides in the routes that have been created in the trees are all well thought through, well made and fun to experience. It helps to be in good physical shape, but even for less trained athletes the park offers a good deal of activity. The food is easy but a good bargain given the low price.

My husband has already reviewed our recent trip, but I'd like to add a personal review as the "fisherman's wife" who has somewhat reluctantly been drawn into the challenging world of flyfishing - a position I am sure many women have found themselves in!
Arranging the trip from Australia by email was easy - Ricardo promptly answered all my queries and set up our trip with a minimum of fuss. And then they delivered everything they promised and more.
After flyfishing in Montana and New Zealand, I remain a novice at the sport, and the two days we spent with Adrian in the glorious Pyrennees was just terrific. I finally 'got' my casting with Adrian's patient help. He did a great job of managing our vastly differing skill levels, and making sure we both got onto fish. His strong arm helping me up the tough slopes and across fast running streams was also a blessing!
The scenery - well it took my breath away. We had privilege of being able to drive deep into Ordesa National Park (they have a special permit) and it is truly spectacular.
The hotel they recommended was charming, and the three course picnic lunches Adrian served us each day, complete with picnic table, crockery and wine, were an unexpected gourmet touch - a far cry from a Sandwich sitting on a rock!
Thank you Adrian and Ricardo for a really special experience. We hope to see you again!
