Small waterfall outside the village of Teneum.
A short and fairly easy walk from the parking lot to the waterfall. Beautiful vertikal and cascading waterfall approx. 30 meters high. When we visited in January there was only one waterfall, but when the water level is higher there are three Waterfalls beside each other. We also saw some hummingbirds in the flowering bushes by the fall.
Entrance fee of 1000 pesos. Restrooms are available.

I wish I had gotten more things here. There are good prices. You can find higher quality at some of the boutique kind of shops around Chile, but here you can find good prices for products that are made in Chile. There are many handicraft markets in Chile that have junk that was made in China. I think this place is a step or two up from those. The sweaters are not handmade, but the wool is likely Chilean. It is a good place to get souveniers. The things we found in boutique handcraft shops in Santiago were more stylish and some were handmade, but there is more variety here and there are many things here that you will not find other places in Chile, at least not at reasonable prices. Particularly, the wooden objects and basketry are good to buy here. There are some interesting sweaters, but you have to search through some less interesting ones to find them. There are some unique objects if you really look. You can find better wall hangings elsewhere, however.

Distinctive for its nine-arched entry and splendid view, this late 19th-century church is tiled on the outside with silver-toned native wood, like other Chiloe churches.
This is a very imposing-looking church indeed. Hard to tell about the inside though, as it was locked. The nearby church at Curaçao de Velez, over at the next island, was definitely worth seeing, though much smaller.

In the village of Tenaun by the square is a well-kept World heritage wooden church with beautiful proportions. Beautiful mild blue exterior, that contrasts nicely with the blue sky and the green hills behind.
You can climb the middle tower and have a look at the big bell inside.
Not crowded.

This museum is small and it contains a lot of objects. It is centrally located and is is well worth visiting. I like the wooden boat and the photographs explaining the concept of "minga" in Chiloe. Minga - is a past cultural practice of moving houses and churches with numerous oxen. This was a community effort. Last year a house was moved in the Castro area, with bulldozers, to show people how it was done in the past.

DecoCalen is a cooperative of local artisans who make their creations with raw material of Chiloe. We encourage the fair trade. We also have a small pubic library where you can find novels, tales, legends and texts of tourist interest that we facilitate for consultation.
