The Torre do Relogio is an ancient, 13th-century Clock Tower found in one corner of Caminha's delightful town square. It is an impressive piece of masonry and, yes, the clock appears to still keep good time. The square boasts a Fountain and a decent number of cafes. It proved a wonderful spot to sit, have a coffee, relax for a while and watch the world go by.

Caminha is a pretty sleepy town (at least it was when we visited) and the church seemed to lie in an particularly sleepy quarter. So, we were not really expecting too much, but once we entered the place were just blown away by the stark, still beauty of the interior. Particularly memorable is the ceiling of inlaid panels of dark wood, running the length of the nave. It's stunning - and I had certainly not seen anything like it before.

Lovely place to stop and watch life go by. Great restaurant on the corner with amazing food and view of clock tower.

I visited this from a unique perspective (for most tourists and for me). I had completed the Camino de Santiago (Camino Francés) and was walking the Camino Portugués backwards towards Porto where I had my return flight. I entered Portugal in Caminha.
This church, with its half-millenium history, encapsulates the luxury that was imposed on otherwise-minor towns by grateful pilgrims in an epoch when Portugal was extraordinarily rich, particularly as measured by gold. The quality of the interior is extraordinary.

This kayak trip was disappointing: we made kayak trips before in the Dordogne, in Holland and in the Belgian Ardennes.
There is not much to see honestly. You start in a little village in the river and the landscape remains the same for 1,5 hours.
In the beginning there were parts were there was very little water (period July). 80 euro for 2 adults and 2 children is overpriced. Our Portuguese guide could not speak English and decided not to speak at all.
Much better in the region: Seven lagoons walk from Descubra Minho.

Zeer vriendelijke tour-gidsen.
