Normally, one wouldn’t equate "relaxing spa vacation" with "hanging out near an active volcano," but if you’re up for something more exotic than facials and massages, Banos might be the perfect place for you. The thermal mineral pools here are heated by the volcano, and while there are several, offering different amenities, the easiest one to visit is Las Piscinas de la Virgen. Banos also has plenty of outdoor activities, like rafting and biking on scenic paths.

Best known for its spectacular viewing and great force of plunging water, this magnificent waterfall is formed by the crystalline Río Verde.
I have been to pailon many times, the last time I came it was about 10 years ago everything has changed however the attraction has improved it’s very nice... the waterfall it’s great and passing through the grout it’s amazing, I definitely recommend it unless it’s a holiday, with huge crowds of people can’t be stressful...

Considered one of Ecuador’s most active volcanoes, this strato-volcano (a volcano that almost constantly emits gas and vapor) towers more than three kilometers above its northern base with a crater measuring more than 400 meters in diameter.
I just saw a few ratings here that indicates poor? If you think it is, then do not go. (JK). Everything about this place is magical and is geared towards the active people looking for adventure. If it is not in your appetite to find that thrill, don't go. I have been here a few times and I always come back to this city, full of adventure, nice people and nature. Be natural. Explore and enjoy,

Great 20km half-day bike ride. I was ill with a bad cold when in Banos and after Reading the reviews thought I might not be able to manage the inclines but actually it was fine. But I definitely have to disagree with an earlier review that says that its 95% downhill - more like 75-80% downhill and the rest is gentle inclines and a couple of more challenging ones but nothing that was not manageable, and I'm not into cycling. I'm so glad my friend talked me into it! You can make numerous stops at Waterfalls, cable cars and ziplines along the way. When we reached the Pailon del Diablo we chained the bikes up with the locks provided, and after took the truck back to Banos for $2 each - there was a driver waiting just by the exit to the waterfall.
We hired bikes from the Wonderful Ecuador agency and the price was very fair and the bikes brand new.

Wow what a beautiful sight
It’s as grand inside as out!
If your in Banos Ecuador you need to visit for the historic as well as religion it represents! I’m glad we visited this historic sight. I didn’t take indoor photos out of respect for those inside, so you will need to visit and see for yourself it’s grandeur.

It was only one dollar for the entry and one dollar for the parking. Vey fun and not scary at all. In case you wonder, they have a seatbelt up on the swing.

An adrenalin producing activity where the cable car takes you from one end of the mountain to the other end where the large Waterfalls await. You are suspended on mid-air and as you look down to the huge drop below, the adrenalin will rush to make you question your survival. Do not worry. Be happy. It goes very quick and within ten minutes, the thrill is gone. But you have to step outside of that fear of the heights and everything will be okay.
We arrived early enough, around 10 and there was no line.

We hired a guide for $5.00 to take us through the zoo. Very limited amount of animals. Should not be on your list, if you are short on time. If you have visited any big zoos in the states, you will be disappointed.
