Having been 5 times on Andreas's cruises on Perseas from Polonia, Milos, I dream of returning and having this unforgettable adventure again. Brilliant Greek hospitality, enormous captain's desire to treat every passenger on board a vessel like a family and very open, down to earth story telling about Milos, Poleagos and his family history makes this journey very special. But the jewel of the trip was delicious barbeque in the wild. Stunning, breathtaking experience. Just try it, and you will never forget it.

This is a very pleasant, narrow but very long beach right in front of the village of Pollonia, Milos. It goes mainly along the Promenade but also forms a semicircle around the bay and port. Plenty of tavernas, restaurants, cafes, shops. The Ferries to and from Kimolos depart and arrive here. A word of caution. The ferry to Kimolos is small, it cannot take more than some 20-30 cars, so plan carefully the trip to and from Kimolos in high season with a car - do not risk having to spending the night on Kimolos. Not that it couldn't be a nice experience after all.

I went with Captain Nick on one of his first trips and i experienced something totally different from what i lived so far. A great boat trip to some amazing Beaches in Kimolos and Polyegos combined with real fishing during the trip. When you swim Nick and Froso are cooking the fish and then everybody is eating together an extremely delicious lunch. I totally recommend it!!!!

We stopped in here one night after dinner and had a wine tasting. We didn't realize they only took cash so we popped back into town to get money for a few bottles.
We went back to get more wine on our way to the airport but sadly they were closed. Luckily for us they sold it in the market in Pollonia so we got a few to take with us.
Trying to figure out now if they are able to ship a case to New York.

We were extremely lucky to be part of one of the first cooking classes taking place at Apanemia, a local tavern. The experience was excellent. Both the translator (Ioanna) and the chef, a lovely Greek Lady (Mrs Georgia), had a great rapport with each other and were extremely friendly. In fact, their rapport added to whole experience. We made three courses (all delicious) prior to which the various herbs, cheeses and ingredients specific to Greek cooking were explained to us (and tasted by us). We also tried a number of drinks ranging from wine to spirits (very strong!). The class was small enough to make us feel like we had personal attention but big enough to meet a number of other like minded people. The cooking is followed by a lunch where, at the end, I literally couldn't eat another mouthful....so much food.
I would definitely recommend this experience; it was a great way to spend the afternoon.
