Perhaps not the most dynamic of museums but never the less well worth a short visit. The video and text exhibits while a bit clunky and could to with updating were however very interesting with great explanations in both Dutch & English into the often tragic world of accused witches and the superstition surrounding witch craft - Getting weighed is half the fun.

Oudewater is a lovely town with beautiful old buildings. It is nice to see them from the water as well. The guide was very knowledgeable, all in all an entertaining hour.

Thanks to the rope industry, Oudewater was an extremely rich touw in the seventeenth century. The Rope Museum is set up in an old shed of a rope walk. It tells the story of hemp and rope. With the assistance of a museum employee you can make your own rope.
This is a very small rope museum. Tools are shown and manufacturing explained. I think it better to go to the Freilicht museum in Hagen for some nice demonstrations, along with many other traditional skills. Of course it's a different language there. But Oudewater is nice, with old buildings and the witches weighing house.
