Great walk out to the wreck from the ferry dock. Take your time and enjoy all the vistas along the route. You can also rent bikes or a horse buggy to bring you out there, however we preferred walking. Note the ferry ride can be extremely wavy. It's about 36 minutes in a small v-hulled boat and many in our group got sick. Still worth the ride out to explore the island. Stop in the local shops for some great homemade fudge!

We have visited Inisheer - the smallest and most vibrant of the Aran Islands according to our tour guide from Galway tour company. The easiest way to get to the island is by ferry from Doolin. If you have a few days to spend on the Aran Islands, you can take a ferry to Inisheer and then hop on to other 2 Islands. Walking is not a single option. If you notice a local guy wearing a white wool cap on a red tractor with a hind-carriage that look like a small house on 4 wheels, hop on, pay 10 euro and you would get an hour excursion through the entire island except the lighthouse. First you will see an ancient church with a tiny window. The locals believe that if you manage to get through the window, you will get to heaven. A small cemetery with Celtic crosses can be a place of interest as well. If you like, you can rent a bike and explore the island yourself. There are 2 renting places on the island and one of them is on the beautiful beach. Two other attractions are the shipwreck and O'Brien castle. The locals are proud that they have THREE pubs on the island :)

O'Brien castle is the first thing you see approaching from Doolin. It is located on a hill top as all old strategic Castles from the past. There is not much to see since the castle is in ruins for a few centuries already but it has a great location, from where you can see those famous stone fences from above.

It is well worth the walk to this spa, approx 15 mins from pier.
Annette the therapist is highly qualified. The seaweed baths a must been on Aran. Reflexology is very good. The place is custom built, clean warm and very calm and relaxing.
Very reasonable prices and well worth a visit after a day of walking and exploring this beautiful island of Inis Oirr.

This 'buried church' is in the middle of the cemetery and a few steps down. If you didn't know it was there you would miss it. Walls are very well preserved and this is definitely worth seeing. If you look carefully around the cemetery there is also a small little out building housing an ancient tomb stone. The cemetery is a short walk or bike ride from the pier and worth a look for sure.

We had a lovely bike ride to the Inis Oirr lighthouse, it is very beautifully painted and has a lovely view of the Cliffs of Moher. (Note: The lighthouse is private property, so you cannot walk up inside the lighthouse, which was not a problem with us.)
