I imagine the number of people today was down due to the fair being on. It made for easier navigating. We missed a couple of venders we visited last time we were on the Island. There was Lots to see. Prices are great for some things and not for others.

The Salt Spring Visitor Centre is located in the heart of downtown Ganges at 121 Lower Ganges Rd. Our knowledgeable volunteer counsellors offer a wealth of information and want to ensure you experience an unforgettable visit. Free local maps, ferry and bus schedules, and our brochure can be picked up at any time. We have free wifi and a payphone is conveniently located outside our door. Tour and local buses stop right outside our front door. There is a bicycle rack available and parking is located behind the Visitor Centre.Unfortunately our building is too old to be handicap accessible but if you visit the Chamber of Commerce office at parking lot level, a counsellor will be happy to bring information to you! Shops, galleries, restaurants, parks and more are a short stroll from the Visitor Centre. See you on Salt Spring Island!
The Saltspring Visitor's centre had lots of useful information, not only about Saltspring but of all the Gulf Islands which was helpful since we were on our way through to Galiano and Mayne Islands. The best thing we discovered was the local Model Train display,...MoreThank you for your review Cherie! We hope you enjoyed your visit to the Southern Gulf Islands.

This is great location to visit & enjoy the sites/ sounds of Ganges Inner Harbour. You have options of utilising the docks or take in the local entertainment.
During the summer months there is a Saturday market where everything sold must be made on the Island. It's amazing. Besides this market there is the multi level Mouats where you can buy toys, kitchenwares, garden supplies, etc.. There are ice cream shops, parks, lots of small unique clothing boutiques, coffee shops, restaurants, toy stores, art galleries and all the main commerce like banks, real estate, etc.. It's the jumping off point for the outdoor enthusiasts like kayakers, canoers, boaters. It takes a couple days to see everything and even then you have to come back a few times to ensure you get it all. I've been to Salt Spring now 5 times and I haven't seen all of the Harbour yet.

A single artist gallery on one of Canada's Gulf Islands. Really an Art Lovers Getaway. Jill travels and paints in various parts of the world. She has many collections on her website and over 300 paintings currently in print. Jill has had galleries of her own for more than 20 years. Her personal gallery on Salt Spring Island is definitely the best place to view her art plus have a chance to meet in person. She paints primarily in watercolour but that tends to be just the start as she then incorporates prayer flags... Pen and ink... Gold leaf and whatever gives the effect she is seeking. Always vibrant and uplifting. The gallery is now open daily in the summer and three days a week the rest of the year.
We were waiting for a table across the way at the Tree-House Cafe and happened upon this gallery. Glad we did - her artwork made us feel happy! Inspired: her artwork is beautiful Atmosphere: great art gallery Service: excellent and friendly! Parking: free in parking...Morewhat can be better than cruising through some beautiful art followed up with a great organic meal at the Tree House...... come back and see us again. Duart

This is Ganges new public library with a nice selction of books, open to the public.
This lovely building is home to a really nice library for the population. Good number of books, meeting rooms, magazines, kids area, but maybe best of all most of the staff are volunteers who love to read, encourage Reading, and make it fun to be there. I enjoyed my visit.
