This walled village houses mercantile buildings dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. The fortified wall has sixteen towers; you can access the city from four of them.
Drove the Romantic Road in August. This was one of our favourite villages of the trip. Straight out of a Grimm's Fairy Tale. Cobblestone streets, friendly folks and a very peaceful atmosphere. The houses and businesses are rendered in late Renaissance facades with pastel colours and half-timbered frames. So photographic and charming.
We parked on the outer ring and walked into the town through one of the four medieval gates that remain . This town has a history! Probably starting around the 8th century. It was once a "Free Imperial City" of the Holy Roman Empire. In the 13th century the fortifications began. Luckily this town is original, untouched by WWI or WWII bombings. Forward thinking in the 19th century, by Ludwig I proclaimed the city to be a heritage site to be preserved and protected.
Delightful shops, bakeries, cafes, inns, restaurants and churches. Well worth an afternoon of roaming around. Highly recommend saving time to walk the fortification walls or at the least climb the St. George church tower. Delightful!

Findling is a store with flair. It offers its visitors a cosy shopping atmosphere with lots of room for creativity. The owner is a very nice lady and helps you find what you're looking for. If you don't buy anything, it's ok to stop by for a chat and a look at the creative pieces of jewelry/art/ clothes that you find there. If you're in Crailsheim, you don't want to miss it!

Only have seen the exteriour, as the church was still closed. Would open a few days later, but by then we would have been in Oberau. Pitty, as seen on pix at the internet it must be nice. We took the steeper chapelway (crossway), but there is a carparking and then it is not that steep. We had a stroll in Steinbach and it was already getting dark when we arrived at this place. I can oly comment the exteriour, and that is a A+. There is a museumspub where one has to start the tour of the interiour church. The Grosscomburg exists of multiple buildings. One can climb steps and stairs and towers, one can partially walk arround the Grosscomburg via the outside wall. There are benches, so it is nice to have tranquil moments and just sit there. If we will visit this region again, will definately visit Grosscomburg again. Kleincomburg (St. Aëgidiuschurch) is at the mountain across Grosscomburg, and one can see the Panorama with this Grosscomburg. However, Tripadvisor would not list this, but that does not mean it is not worthwhile visiting.

This should be your first stop if you arrive in Crailsheim any time after 6 pm. Grab a table on the deck, and start ticking off the cocktails you want to try from their multipage drinks menu - they're all good. We started with the special, the Panamera, and loved it. But over the course of several visits here during our stay in Crailsheim we branched out considerably, and received excellent personalized recommendations from Max, the owner, and his staff. They make an excellent Negroni, but I eventually found my favorite: the Basilico, a lovely green smoothie of a drink that satisfied my love of basil, and my illusions that some drinks are healthier than others. I first tried it as a mini cocktail - shot sized - the perfect way to decide whether to order the full sized drink.
Because the focus here is on the cocktails, not food, there isn't a lot to choose from for snacking. Fortunately the Monte Cristos are perfect: delicious little grilled pieces of cheese and ham happiness. We had two each :>)
