If you want to see Penang Countryside up-close, EBP choices of tour is your best option.
My friend and I joined the half day cycling tour 2 weeks ago and we didn't regret. The guide was great and he showed us several places like goat farms, Malay and Chinese fishing villages, etc. He also brought us to places with good kaya toast and Assam laksa.
Highly recommended for anyone who wanna do something else and enjoy the nature other than George Town.

It's a family running goat farm & producing some related products to sell. Fresh goat milk & ice cream are refreshing & priced reasonable. There are a few rabbits, dogs, chicken, ostrich as well. The farm is hidden in a village & might difficult to call for uber. A good place to hangout with family for an hour

This small orchard is on the way to Balik Pulau and is located on the left mid way when you are coming from Teluk Bahang. You can witness how these nutmeg fruits are grown and processed from the separation of the pulp right through the drying of the maze and pips. The pulps are squeezed and processed into a drink or into preserved fruits with various flavors. Besides nutmeg you can also buy other local preserved fruits which are grown on the island. The skin maze and pips are laid out to dry in the sun to be turned into spices or balms. A truly educational place for all ages and the owner a great story teller is ever willing to provide any information you require.

We are a group of family and friends from Singapore, Sweden and Denmark. The bicycle tour will probably be the most memorable part of our vacation in Penang. We rode past beautiful rice fields, mangroves, kampongs and small fishing villages and spent some lovely time at the seaside. The bicycles were not excellent and likely small for tall guys, but good enough for the short flat route that we went through. Our tour guide was very nice and an avid rider himself. The experience was almost perfect - if not for the misinformation I received, when asked a day or two before, that the guide could speak English. Guide was able to provide good insights to the area, but not in English - which was ok as some of us could translate. But I did not appreciate the misinformation.
Titi Teras Village house, the starting point, was about 40 min from George Town, by Grab Car. But getting out of the place was not as easy, so ample time is needed to get an Uber or Grab car. We were catching a flight later that day, and on Adrian's and Yap's good advice, we left Balik Pulau early, and hanged out at the Queensbay Mall where transport was very available.

I was really looking forward to visiting this farm in the countryside but it just doesn't meet acceptable standards of animal welfare.
The rabbits and Guinea pigs were clearly underfed and distressed and kept in cages with wire bottoms (not on the grass). Some of the rabbits were unwell and the Guinea pigs had patches of fur missing. The horses were underfed - their enclosure was filthy and muddy - they were forlornly standard around in their own filth and trying to stay out of the mud. I just can't recommend this place at all.

high hope to visit durian farm for 1st time.
but when we arrived, we were not very much welcomed.
we were told durian were sold out, despite there were few parties enjoying durian right in front of us.
We were told "reservations for durian" was required, but we didnt find it from their website!
so, we left, spent 1.5 hr on the back-and-forth driving!
bad experience!
