Been there on karthika pournami. There were special programs that day which was lucky enough for me being there. At night there was tungarathi, which was orgnized outside but people didn't wait or lighten up the diya's in sequence, else it would be nice.
Rathamahotsavam was conducted at night after maha pooja from 7.30-9.30pm. It was an absolute delight for being there during that time. Photos attached.
Didn't had enough water in tungabhadra river, but walked little inside to take the dip.
Try to stay overnight, so you won't miss rathamahotsavam and early morning puja. Organisation inside brindavanam would need improvement.
Lucky to see Sri Sri Subudhendra Teertha Swamiji who was performing rituals on karthika pournami night. Delightful and holyful.
If you want to stay in alayam accomodation, book in advance. I used Arya Vaishya Satram was is under renovation, but rooms are good.
Try to use temple annadanam for eating as lunch outside is ok. I tried in Hotel Pannaga near Temple for dinner as i couldn't catch up within time for annadanam place. The hotel is absolute pathetic, plates were dirty, only sambar, rice, roti, pickle & curd. Flies all over, when asked to owner he was absolute rude and asked if i want refund in a rude/arrogant manner. Took the money, as he doesn't deserve that, rather give to needy people
Near by place to visit is Panchamukha Temple. Reviewed it seperately.
Dressing is important for men. To visit Swamy sannidhi you can wear pant but take off shirt/top inner. Women they can wear dress and saree's. If you want to perform any puja then pattu pancha is required.

The Panchamukhi Anjaneya Swamy (Panchamukhi) is in the cave where it’s believed that in 16th century Sri Raghavendra Swamiji did meditation for 12 years after which Lord Hanuman appeared with 5 faces (hence the name Panchamukhi) – Hanuman, Narasimha, Garuda, Varaha & Hayagriva. The idol that’s available in the cave is believed to be self-manifested. Blessing Sri Swamiji, Lord Hanuman proclaimed that "he would move around the places solving the problems and fulfilling the desires of ‘bhaktas’ while spreading the message that ‘Sri Hari’ is the ultimate God; and he will ultimately achieve salvation by becoming ‘live Samadhi’ at the present place of Manthralayam". At this place, even Sri Mahalakshmi appeared to Sri Swamiji and this Devi is known as ‘Erakalamma’ for locals for whom there is a temple very close to and behind Panchamukhi temple and it’s worth paying a visit.
Even today, the descendants of original priest Sri Ananthachar in 16th century, are performing the puja at both Panchamukhi and Erakalamma temples. That’s how the importance for this place is very high among the devotees of Sri Swamiji.
Even landscape, where boulders are standing one above the other in quite a peculiar way, is very nice to look at. Even if this place is not part of your tour package, it is better to consider it, convince the tour operator to cover this holy place as well and pay a visit to both Panchamukhi and Erakalamma temples. Road condition is bad to this place and no good restaurants are available. Share Autos are available from Manthralayam to this place and they charge Rs. 100 per person for a round trip.

Was here while on business on recent inaugural ceremony of the school on outskirts of raichur.. happened to visit this place..raichur has huge thermal power plant...Raichur Thermal Power Station which supplies electricity all over Karnataka... otherwise it's a very small country side town, lacks even basic infrastructure...lot to do by politicians to improve apart from good schools which are happening now..

Sri Raghavendra Teertharu is a saint & preacher of Dvaita Philosophy. He was the pontiff of the Madhva Matha which was then known as Vibhudendra Matha for close to 50 years. There are innumerable miracles associated with him and he is known to have blessed people from all walks of life - irrespective of their caste, sect and creed. Mantralayam is the chosen divine place by Rayaru to bless his devotees. The Brindavana at Mantralayam is a beacon for all those seeking both worldly and other-worldly blessings.
We left 3AM in the morning from bangalore and reached Mantralyam aroung 10AM so, stayed at Karnataka Guest House. Most of the accommodation over there are basic and don't expect resort and luxury style. Roads are good till gooty and futher deteriorates till yemigiri. We left Mantralayam around 5AM and reached here by 11AM.
