Peer Chanasi

It was hot and humid in Muzaffarabad city when I visited in May 2005. Then we decided to spend the evening at Pir Chinasi. It took 2.5 hrs drive to reach here but it was fresh and cool. Even there was snow on one side of the hill. Views were just amazing. There was no basic facilities like (restaurent, toilets) at that time. No idea about current position.

Neelum River

I visited Neelum Valley after hearing a lot about it from friends. I went there with my family. We were informed that the food available at the restaurants in that place is not good so we took our own food with us. The place was overly crowded and lots of waiters keep coming after us. When we informed that we have our own food, we were not allowed to sit on the chairs and charpai. It was very poor behavior.

The place itself is not developed but on the way to pir chinasi it was awsome. Excellent scenic views amazing people lush green hills. Who ever go there try local food. Makki roti(corn bread) saag palak( spinach mustard leave) and lassii (yogurt drink). Gets cold in summers too when it is cloudy, most of the time place is windy. Worth going.

Red Fort

Reviewed By KamranShaukatAliKhan - Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan

I'm bit disappointed to see such a historical place abandoned by the local govt. It should have been taken care like it deserves. The structure is mostly worn out and barely gives clues about time. It has been in use by several emperors of the time as strategic fort for wars, it was repaired and structured was altered by them. But today, it merely stands on it own. Almost a quarter of it is damaged. Some parts like gates etc. are belong to modern times instead. Local govt. should really consider a repair.

Quaid-e-Azam Tourist Lodge

Reviewed By flyfisher66 - Islamabad, Pakistan

The Dak Bungalow, now called Quaid Lodge (after the Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan), is located along the banks of Jhelum River in Barsala, 32 km short of Muzaffarabad.
Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and his sister Fatima Jinnah stayed here in 1946 while traveling to Srinagar. The location of the lodge along the Jhelum River is beautiful and very scenic. Till a few years back, the old rest house was in almost in ruins but it has been restored excellently to its original shape and looks beautiful. Though it is furnished and liveable but unless one is interested in seeing the sunset and sunrise scene from the rest house or just want's to stay in there due to its historic location, there are better places to live in Muzaffarabad.
A must stop over for a 30 minutes break while traveling from Murree to Muzaffarabad. It is however not more than 1 hour activity. There are few shops in Barsala that provide very basic food.
