Excellent area roads for biking. The "mountain" is nice and there are a few good places to stay. It is usually cooler in the hot summer months up on the mountain, so it makes for a nice weekend trip from Hangzhou/Ningbo/Yuyao.

Nice paths to walk on, well maintained and even ground. Occasional small attractions, temples, animals, even souvenier salesmen were interesting. Good hilly exercise without being too much, and a great relaxing break from work and teh noisy city environment, while being only across teh raod from my hotel in the centre.

Though I went to Hemudu with my group, not alone. I couldn't take that much time to see all it in my way. But in my way, as far my knowledge goes, Hemudu has been a nice place for me to visit as I'm really fond of historical places.....

The exhibits are well laid out and there are enough descriptions to make it interesting for the English speaking visitor. Some of the artwork is brilliant, and one street scene display in particular is eyecatching. The only downside was that there was a display where you could write a message on a screen or on a post-it and add it to the display and there was one message in English that used discusting language. I tried to find an attendent who spoke English and tell them to rub it out, but there was no-one around who could understand me. It made me embarassed to be Western.

You can kill two birds with one stone - see Generalisimo Chiang Kai-shek's ancestral home and visit the great buddhist temple at Xikou Simingshan.
However, both places charge RMB90 (religious place charging entrance fee?) and they are hyped as Ningbo's best place for a day trip. For those on a budget, better to stay in downtown Ningbo where there are lots of historical buildings and three rivers to enjoy.

We drove over from Xikou to spend the day in this mountain park. It is filled with lakes, Mountains, vistas and a hotel we were told was a 5 star hotel. I didn't stay there but the facilities around the hotel were not what I would consider 5 star by western standards. This large National Forest Park has a lot to see but it all involves a lot of walking so see any of it. There is a special Geological section of the park for those who are interested in different geological formations and how they all present themselves in this one area. I did enjoy hiking down some of the mountainsides and seeing some of the trails that have been built over the years but if you're not into a lot of hiking and climbing stairs, this is not the place for you.
