The farm has been the jewel of the Bovlei valley for three centuries and has had many owners. The current farm dates from 1993 with the decision to grow high quality wine grapes. The first vines were planted in 1995. Since the present owners acquired it in 2003, they have built a winery, tasting room and storage complex. In 2005, the farm was given Estate status.
Right at the end of the Bo-vlei road and right beneath Bainskloof pass with stunning scenery. I enjoyed their wines and had a nice cold meat and cheese platter for lunch. Friendly service and a must do estate if you're after good wines

Excellent winery stop recommended by friend, and are we glad we stopped! Wines less expensive but excellent. The Pinotage is fabulous, unless you do not like coffee. If you like coffee, you'll adore it!!! Others very good as well. Staff quite friendly, providing crackers, chocolate, jerky etc to complement the wines, and we ended up buying excellent chocolates there too after tasting. The warm experience was so welcome and different from the typical experiences at high end wineries. This one won't disappoint.

A very relaxed and informative tour of the James Sedgwick Distillery including whisky tasting. Bookings essential as by appointment and great value for money.
Even though not a SA whisky fan it was very enjoyable and will go buy myself a bottle of Three Ships 10 year old!

Some of the best MTB Trails in the country. There is plenty to keep the lungs gasping for air and the heart racing from adrenalin! The trails are generally well marked and there are 4 routes to choose from. Something for everyone! A must do in the Western Cape.

We had lunch at this lovely farm recently. The food and service were outstanding and very friendly. The carrot cake is to die for, but so is the bobotie. This is a lovely half-way stop when cycling in the winelands. Comes highly recommended.

We decided that this was a good way to have a xmas party and couldn't have been more right. The S2O team are really cool people who take what they do very seriously whilst making sure that you have a lot of fun!

We have been to Bontebok Ridge many times and absolutely love it. Don't expect to see the big 5, but lots of quagga, Springbok, eland and of course, bontebok. The scenery of the reserve which is set against the limietberg mountain range is absolute spectacular. We usually go in the afternoon but I would imagine that it is stunning any time of the day. The farm is owner run so you can be sure that your guide knows all about the area, the animals and the reserve. There is the option to stop at the lapa overlooking the dam where a glass of wine and some yummy homemade nibbles are served. They also have six wooden cabins for rent. Buy some meat from the reserve for a braai, try your luck on the fun 5 hole golf course or take a dip in the dam. Even though we only stay on the other side of the mountain, spending a few hours at Bontebok always feels like a mini holiday!

Several of our wedding party stayed at Bovlei as there wasn't enough accomodation for all at Grand Dedale, but no-one felt it was second best. Everyojne complimented it's quiet and relaxed atmosphere and many will be returning in the future.

Upland is a small QCS certified Organic fruit and wine farm that has been producing world class organic Brandy, Grappa, Port and Cabernet Sauvignon for over a decade. Upland's organic Grappa won the 'World's Best Grappa' at the Guldkorken International Competition in Stockholm and its list of international and local awards is impressive. Essential to phone ahead to reserve a booking.
Very off-the-beaten track venue - no signage to speak of so we nearly ended up in the middle of the bush in a very low-slung sportscar... HOWEVER, the tasting and personality of the Edmund & his amazing pack of hounds (see and you will understand!)...MoreThanks for the feedback. Sorry about the signage, it is back in place. All the best, Edmund
