One of the main tourist destinations in the region where beauty and hospitality are offered by the Lago Azu. There is am Anchorage and gasoline for boats.
The road to access this was a bit minimalist but the lake was nice and had different pools for different ages as well as life guards (not the sort we have in Australia, but still reassuring). There was a pontoon over the lake for the access to the pools, but this can get a bit hot in warmer weather so take thongs. The area of the lake that I went to was a bit short on places to sit out of the sun or keep your belongings or even have a picnic, so this an area where they could improve immensely.

For those travelling between Abrantes and Sertã/Castelo Branco, this is a must-see site. The view is breathtaking. The silence in unbelievable.
Vila de Rei is also a village surrounded by 4 of the 7 top river-beaches in the country. So lots of things to do and visit there.

A great place to enjoy sun and pool environment. Great landscape to refresh yourself on the hot summer days. Near Cardigos (Macao district), a small town in Portugal, you can do a small picnic, refresh yourself or take some sun in a countryside landscape.
Espaço bem cuidado e agradável à vista. Com bons acessos e estacionamento fácil. De salientar que, numa tarde de sábado em Outubro e com o bar fechado, os WC continuavam disponíveis e limpos.

Church founded according to legend, by Queen Santa Isabel in the century. XIII and subsequently sent rebuild the commander of Dornes D. Frei Goncalo de Sousa, dirty coat of arms is inscribed on a tombstone in the main facade. Source: Tourist Guide of Ferreira do Zezere
Dornes itself is a wonderful small village definitely worth visiting, and the church dominates the village's landscape. The church is built in the typical style but what makes is outstanding is the adjacent Templar tower that one can actually climb, too. Try getting here at sunset when all nearby hills are bathing in the sunset rays. Breathtaking.

The views and location is stunning.
There are good areas to camp and shower.
There's a trail that takes you to a lovely waterfall. It can be busy and I would recommend wearing something better than flip flops!
The bar is decent and prices are cheap.
The lake is lovely.

When you are arriving at Dornes, just follow the mean street in the direction of the Tower, and so you will have the “Tourist Office” on your left hand side. The Office was closed on the moment of our arrival, it is small but nice and very clean, it has also on the right side a Terrace from where you have a nice view over the water below where the boats are and the river Beaches.

This small village and its five inhabitants, is a treasure lost in central Portugal.
The Schist houses, the Galega stream through the village, the friendliness of its inhabitants, the highly organized rails, will make your visit a dream.
Try to stay in the village, enjoy the silence and relax without contact with the outside world.

We've been here a few times. Small bar, service is decent but the place appears to have changed management and isn't anywhere near to what it used to be. Drinks are reasonably priced.
