Tandil is the main city of the homonymous partido (department), located in Argentina, in the southeast of Buenos Aires Province, just north-northwest of the Tandilia hills. The city was founded in 1823 and its name originates from the Piedra Movediza ("Moving Stone") which later fell. The city is the birthplace of many notable sports personalities, as well as the current president of Argentina Mauricio Macri.

This is a building where you can appreciate the architecture of the beginnign of XX century; some of their floorings are still with the original wood material.

Muy linda. Tiene excelentes detalles, está muy bien conservada. Ubicada en frente de la Plaza Independencia, merece la visita más allá de las creencias.

Wonderful park to walk up to the "palacio morisco", nice views from the city and surroundings. There is a cafe on the top of the hill, where you can seat and enjoy beverages and simple food. Try to visit on a sunny day.

Few would have ever heard of Tandil outside Argentina. This is a lamentable truth. Tandil is probably not only Argentina's Best Kept Secret but also the country's most friendly city (although I must say that Argentines are very hospitable and really friendly). Monte Calvario is one of the most beautiful places to visit in the city. The chapel may be small but it is nicely decorated. As for the huge sculpture of Christ, that is the jewel in the crown.

Time for a trip back into time. Centinela is a family hiking park with a rock the balances on it point and can crush a bottle as it sways back and forth over the course of several hours. Not the most exciting thing in the world but the fresh air country side and surrounding sierras (hills) make this an ideal spot for a lunch. Centinela has a huge Asado everyday for lunch. You can sit outside or go into the tavern, a throwback to life 50-100 years ago.The food is good, ample in size and extremely reasonable. Service is friendly and unhurried. If you want a day in a park or are traveling with kids this is a great place for lunch.
