It was interesting to walk the walls of this medieval town. Nice photo opportunities along the way. It was not busy the day I visited so I had the place almost to myself.

A great place to spend a rainy day. Three main exhibits:
- butterfly pavillion
- nocturnal animals exhibit
- jungle trek
Butterflies were great. Especially liked the gigantic Atlas Moth.
Highlight was the nocturnal animals exhibit with bats flying freely throughout brushing up against your cheeks!! My wife and kids freaked out. I loved it!!!
Just a great cozy and well curated zoo. Weather kept us from seeing the outdoor exhibits but nevertheless was all worth it!!!

My daughter bought us two tickets to see the opéra Madame Butterfly at Avenche - an outdoor amphetheatre over 2000 years old. The ambiance was fantastic as was the performance. Take a pillow with you as the stone seats can be quite hard. One of the best expériences of my life.

It is 11 o'clock. The station master announces the train pulling into the station, This is where a wonderful tale becomes reality thanks so the perseverance of its conceptor, Marc Antiglio. An imaginary network of miniature Railways will take you a journey through Switzerland as is it were real. Built on 3 levels, on a scale of 1:87, 2045 metres of track are layed.
Kaeserberg Museum of Trains is something you probably won't see elsewhere. It's a mini train model on a grand scale with towns, Mountains, tunnels, cars, and more. The trains are run by a special system resembling a real train network operation, there is "day" and "night" and various trains are moving across different "toy" scenery. Although the tour is only in German and French, there is more to see there than hear so it's still interesting even if you don't understand the guide.

We took the train from Bern and spent several hours in this well-preserved medieval town. The ramparts are easily accessible and we enjoyed submerging ourselves in the long history of the place. The little town is filled with specialty shops and there are dozens little sidewalk cafes and restaurants. Everything was clean and visitor friendly. It was a nice place to visit.

I'd read about this area of Switzerland changing from Swiss German to Swiss Romande in the wink of an eye and it's true! We'd been cycling around Lac Morat and hearing other walkers speaking French and saying 'bonjour' then suddenly we crossed the canal and cycled through the forest towards Murten (the lake is called Murtensee in German!) and it all became German- all the signs too were in German. I even asked a woman about the city walls in French and she looked bemused and asked if I spoke English! It is a beautiful town with a stunning lakefront. Lots of restaurants and bars in the old town above the lake too. Then carry on towards Avenches and you're back in Suisse Romande!
