If you find yourself in Maracaibo, do not pass up the opportunity to visit this jewel. Admittedly, Maracaibo presents challenges. But this stunning church will convince you that Maracaibo was and can be (hopefully, very soon) a remarkable destination imbued with history and culture

Pictures of this bridge really don't do it justice. I spent more than a few afternoons having a drink and looking out towards the lake and this bridge. At night, when the light it up, it's just gorgeous
So, why am I giving it only three stars? So the first time I went over this bridge, Mario tells me to keep my eyes open and look to see if any of the road lights are out. He explains that this is because the bridge was so cheaply built with so much corruption and theft of materials that it is fairly common for parts of it to collapse into the lake. When this happens, it can be difficult to see at night and there have apparently been instances of several cars going over these gaps and into the water below. Believe me it is a LONG way down. After that, I always pay a lot of attention when I am going over this bridge.

This is definitely the prettier landmark of Downtown in Maracaibo, the Catedral is just a few blocks away,Teatro Baralt and the Famous Plaza Bolivar. When you travel around Maracaibo you will see a lot of statues of " La Virgen de Chiquinquira " but here in La Plaza del Rosario the Statue is gorgeus, you will definitely feel that you are in the heart of the town, and you feel the love and protection of La Virgen around you, Maracuchos are fervent believers of this Virgen , so you definitely want to go and have some pictures taken and buy some local souvenirs. The only bad thing is that Downtown Maracaibo can be a little dangerous if you are a tourist, and lots of people try to sell something to you, specially if you look like a tourist, is always good to be alert and caucious not carry a lot of cash or special traveler documents with you, if you have a friend with you that is a local is a plus. Maracaibo definitely is one of my favorite cities in Venezuela. People is kind and happy and the food is very good!

local favorite to go and sweat the day off, good after 5 pm and before sunset. People jog in couples, families stroll their children, there is a police station inside.

Best museum in town. It is located within the city's historic center, not a lot too see in it, but they try their best considering the limitations.

On the Maracaibo side is a very nice scenic park with some placques that tell you about the bridge. It is a beautiful bridge especially at dusk or night when it is bathed in lights. nice drive across it also. Nice for a 1 hour visit

This is a traditional barrio, where you can see the colorful and emblematic houses. This place it's better t visit at night, 7, 8 or 9 pm.
You can find here little bars and few restaurants.
Ateneo Pop: to have a bear.
Calle Club: bear and pizza.
And others that I have not visited yet.
Advise: this is a very short street. If you are walking please, don't go out from that street walking by night. Ask the waiter for a taxi.
