Walking on my way to Guemes St I could not help but notice this commanding water tower. It is a glorious architectural pile. It is open to visitors and I was treated to a private and most informative tour. The guide reminded me how clean the water in Mar de Plata is so no more bottled water for me while I am here. Don´t miss it!

You can´t miss this beautiful neo gothic Cathedral in the center of the city. I made a visit on my own and then returned for Sunday Mass in the evening. The Mass was beautifully celebrated and the people were most friendly.

Extremely beautiful Cathedral, so very ornate without being garish. Really worth a visit. Also houses the tomb of General Jose de San Martin who was the prime leader in Argentina’s successful struggle for independence from Spain in the 19th Century.

Overlooking Playa Grande (Great Beach, which, by the way, is one of the smallest) this magnificent park, poor in trees but imposing when the purple flowers give a contrast to the green of the grass, is one of Mar del Plata's nicest postcards. Best views from the Southern Pier (Escollera Sur), the Northern Pier (Escollera Norte), and the Southern borders of the Cabo Corrientes (Cape Corrientes). Then experience a "churro" at Manolo's, just across the street.

Museo Municipal de Arte Juan C.Castagnino

This spectacular building, whose architecture was inspired by the Loire Castles, houses 450 works of Argentinean artists, including paintings, carvings, sculpture and photography.

The building is gorgeous and we were expecting to enjoy our visit, exploring the museum and discovering some local fine art.
Unfortunately, the building is not very well preserved on the inside. There are a few antique and vintage furniture pieces, and some artworks as well. But the overall experience was average.
Also, I wouldn't describe the staff as welcoming.

The hamburger are homemade and remembering me the one I had in many other pubs abroad. The ambience is a little noisy because is always full with a cheerful crowd but it is not annoying at all. You should go if you like beers !

Aquopolis

Reviewed By lex-flia - Mar del Plata, Argentina

Aquopolis is a must for all summer visitors of Mar del Plata. It is a bit out of the city, but really worth the way.
It is full of very exciting water slides, but also two spaces for the little ones, where they can get wet and play. It has loads of space, so even when it is full, you don't feel it so much. My family really enjoyed the biggest, most vertical slide, while I spend some time with my little ones in a more quiet area.
I was very impressed with the quality of the food, usually in parks like this one you don't get good food, but in Aquopolis we all enjoyed it very much. I also appreciated the personnel being around to make sure everything runs smoothly.
In conclusion, Aquopolis is a great little excursion out of the city of Mar del Plata for kids and grown-ups alike to have some good times in the sun away from the usually windy and wavy Beaches.
