This is a nationally important area of countryside with some of the most beautiful, unspoilt scenery in the East Midlands. There are rolling hills and hidden Valleys, gentle streams and nestling villages. The Lincolnshire Wolds is a living, working landscape, with woodland, grassland and abandoned chalk pits providing important habitats for rare flowers and wildlife.
The Lincolnshire wolds don't automatically spring to mind for the average walker but they should. For rolling hills and nice flat walking it's ideal and there are some great circular routes to be achieved that take in all manner of ancient monuments and interesting bits and bobs.

I called in to this refurbished building out of curiosity,i was surprised to find that ,despite the small size, there are some good exhibits,we were taken around by a knowledgeable member of the staff who pointed out and explained some of the more interesting items. The history of the area is covered along with along with notable locals
There is an exhibit on the upper floor about beer...i didn't see it.
There is good access for the less mobile ,there is a small lift to the upper gallery.
There is also a small gift shop.
A great place to visit on rainier days, would recommend to all.

Louth Riverhead Theatre is a local community owned venue. It is maintained and run by a dedicated team made up almost entirely of volunteers. We offer a diverse programme of professional touring productions alongside our own season of plays, musical and pantomime.
Had a family night out out to see the Pantomime Dick Whittington. I have not laughed so much in a while, for amateur dramatics it's was funny well executed, the scenes were fantastic, the fluorescent under water one was amazing the we all loved it. Dancing and singing was well presented too.

This antiques centre is much larger than it looks from the outside as it goes back a long way and has a second floor. Full of interesting antiques and vintage items from some smaller items in cabinets to large pieces of furniture.
The staff are always friendly and are happy to let you have a closer look at anything locked in a cabinet.
Plenty of pay & display car parks around Louth and some short stay on street parking close by.

Visited today as Cleethorpes has again gone downhill. Very impressed with setup. Nice to see friendly staff as Cleethorpes receptionists are a bit miserable. The changing village was clean and tidy and the pool wasn't too busy. Overall, a better choice than clee

If you did not know it, the Greenwich meridian actually passes through the town centre area of Louth, but if you blink while walking down the road you will miss it. There is a marker on the floor, and a plaque on the wall, nothing else really to look at.

Situated just 3 miles from the market town of Louth, Alvingham Lakes is ideally located for touring the Lincolnshire Wolds & coastal resorts. Offering an oasis of tranquility with 2 well stocked fishing lakes. We have just three well equipped static caravans, sleeping up to 4 or 6 people, which provide an opportunity to escape the hustle of bustle of everyday life. Alternatively, you are welcome to bring your own tourer or motorhome, and hook-up at one of the 4 electric points available.
We moved our recent fishing holiday attack to Alvingham Lakes after struggling at another local fishery. We fished Monkey Lake to target some silvers and caught some spectacularly beautiful, scale and fin-perfect roach of a really good stamp (which made a really pleasant change from endless carp).
Alvingham has an unusual approach to snack provision with its Monkey café where visitors are invited to help themselves to refreshments and simply leave payment in an honesty tray!
What I must mention is the hospitality here. Ian, the owner, is a smashing chap only too willing to help and guide the visitor to a better catch, He kindly showed us around his caravan (another is to be added in future) which is immaculate and which we shall book for next autumn.
A final touch was that on our second day, the weather was a bit inclement and we were feeling a little bit sorry for ourselves, when a warming cup of soup and a bread roll was delivered to the bankside on the house... Thanks Ian, you are a star!

We found this War Memorial at the junction of Hall Farm Road & the Main Road in Great Carlton standing on a green space that looks well cared for. It stands on a plinth with a Celtic cross at the top and there are names written around the base. The names are from the First World War. Memorials can be found in most villages but some are hard to find and often you can miss them as you drive or walk by.

St Edith's Church is one of the Mid Marsh churches near Louth and can be found on the main road through Grimoldby with on street parking. The church dates back to the 13th century and is made from Spilsby greensand. The tower dates from the mid-fourteenth-century. Well worth visiting as it stands in its own churchyard and has a restored medieval cross in the grounds and a War Memorial.
