Easy to arrive by foot, even if a bit of a steep walk. Totally restored in the XXth century after the Napoleonic troops left it in ruins, the complex story around Ernesto Korrodi and the rehabilitation process is already worth a visit. Those interested in military history, 'Românico' and 'Gótico' styles and restoration will find valuable elements. Those captivated by the legends, histories and abandonment, will find it very romantic. For those only interested in the views and taking pictures, the iconic 'loggia' created by the gothic arcades doubles as the best viewpoint of the city.

I absolutely love this place! Wonderful large, golden sandy beach, great esplanade to walk or sit and observe time passing by. Lovely for all ages. There are great cafes and places to eat. Nearby there's the pine forest, great for walks and cycle rides, and the lovely Freshwater lagoon, Ervideira, where the whole family can paddle or swim. A must!

There is an interactive part which is good for children. They can spend an hour there interacting and learning about the light and moving images. There is also an exhibition with ancient cinema machines. There were also two Exhibitions of photography. Two were interesting the other so, so.

A quite average Cathedral, built in the Mannerist style and with several baroque additions such as the nice main altar. Nearly completely unadorned inside it feels a bit empty. One thing of note though is the detached bell tower which stands several feet up the hill, a rarity in Portugal.

Interesting museum, displaying the history of the city from the pre-history. It also has a large collection of religious art. The building itself is interesting and overall it its worth visiting!
