An exceptionally brilliant and peaceful place with magnetic charm for holiness. No pandas and any kind of commercial people around . No good quality hotels around and makeshift restaurants serving knick knacks like Maggie are available. Must visit place if holiness attracts one , nothing much available for children except running around in open glades of grass . Majestic indeed.

We have restored a 100 years old mule shed to run this community based Travel Cafe' in a quaint little village of Devikhal some 15kms before/after Lansdowne. We are situated in Devikhal village on Pauri highway . From Lansdowne one has to reach Jaiharikhal and then take Pauri Highway , drive downhill on the road to Kotdwar. We are bang opposite Devikhal green colour bus stand. The Cafe' houses a small library for all travel enthusiasts & a souvenir section which has memorabilia from all across the country to buy from. Also on display is our personal collection of antiques. Happy Travelling & Keep Exploring Lansdowne Trip Travel Cafe'
Small, tiny yet awesome. We wondered whether a detour would be worth and realised, fully worth it. What a decision. Guitars, books, old gramophone records, all maintained and on display. Handicrafts on sale, we indulged in some Maggi, coffee, etc and loved the time we spent. Did the stopover on the way back from Lansdowne. Not to miss if you wish to hit a library cafe amidst the beautiful ranges of Lansdowne

Lansdowne is a small town in Pauri Garwhal in Uttarakhand in India which is the regimental Centre of the Garwhal Rifles regiment. This is a pleasant place with several visiting places for tourists. The tourists mainly visit the so called highest point called the Tip in Top but the road beyond it goes to the Santoshi Mata Mandir, a place higher than the Tip in Top.This temple is under the upkeep with the Garwhal Rifles people and ther is no so called priest within. A small steep climb reaches the temple away from the hustle and bustle of the crowds. the temple is clean and is revered. The road further goes towards the central School.
Having limited time in hand, we headed to this spot after Tip-N-Top, for Sun Set...
We were not disappointed... The Sunset was excellent !!!!
To our surprise, we could see the ever fresh wild daisy flowers everywhere.
Because of limited time, we could not visit the Santoshi Mata Temple though.

This temple is on the way to Lansdowne, near Kotdwar, overlooking the river Khoh.
Would suggest that you also visit the famous Sidhbali Hanuman Temple in Kotdwar toobefore you reach Durga Devi temple. After the town of Kotdwar, just take the right turn, over the bridge, and you'll reach this Hanuman temple. Just be prepared to climb a lot of stairs !!

The Century Old Heritage Mess was built during the British Era and is now being maintained by the Cantonment Board, at about a 15-minute walk from the main market, the Mess stands testament to the times gone by.
The building is now a museum that is home to a wonderful collection of silverware, books, and animal trophies.
If you're an animal lover, do avoid the room with the animal trophies though, since it might hurt your sensitivities, but, rest assured, these are from the time when hunting was legal.
A word of caution about the dress code though, Gentle men are to wear shoes with laces and shirts with collars, as the formality is expected to be maintained.
Do visit to soak in the regality and also spend some time in the glass gazebo overlooking the valley below to have a commanding view of the cantonment hill station.
