My wife and I went on the guided tour, and it was excellent! So many details about life in such a castle. The exhibits and rooms are a combination of beautiful reconstruction and modern installations illustrating life in ages past. Very engaging! We spent about 2 hours in the castle, but if we had had the time we could easily have spent at least one more. There are so many interactive elements that provide information. Very highly reccomend.

The castle looks really small from the outside, like it doesn't have much to offer, but there were many interesting things to see inside. Plus you can climb the walls and the tower and get a wonderful view of the surroundings. Children can also have loads of fun in the surrounding park, if museum visiting is not their thing...

One of the eight churches in Gyula. We have entered a moment during the Mass. It is nice furnished, located in the city center and is one of sights spa that deserves your attention. I'm not understand more about the church because they were only inscriptions in Hungarian.

We were on wellness holiday in Gyula, however, we spent some time exploring the town and its sights, too. One of these sights would have been the "Ladics-ház", the house of the family Ladics. Its members worked as notaries in Gyula for five generations and the interior is preserved in its original, start-of-the-19th-century condition.
So we went there and found a sign on the entrance with the opening hours in Hungarian. It said that the museum is closed on Mondays, the opening hours are 1100-1500 from Tuesday to Sunday. Fine, it was Friday 2 pm. It was also added that they are open "telefonos ügyelet alapján", which for me means they are on call in the aforementioned periods of time. It was also written that if we book in advance, times other than the opening hours can be arranged for a visit.
So we called them. No answer. Ten minutes later they called us back and said that day the visit couldn't be arranged, maybe next day if it was suitable for us. No, it wasn't.
I am really upset that in opening hours a museum is not open, what is more, they try to bargain. Also, the sign was in Hungarian only. This is very poor and totally not (foreign) tourist-friendly. I can't write a positive review based solely on the look of the facade of Ladics House.

A 200 year old castle renewed 2014, with an interesting museum inside. But the main attraction is an amazing 3D light painting show on the external walls of the castle performed every evening after sunset with a duration of 45 min.
The castle is only 25 km from Gyula, a nice city with a forteress and next ti it a great bath with termal water and wellness facilities..

A very quiet, peaceful, "good for the soul" place. I was impressed more by the sourroundings. The little park was beautifully decorated for Christmas.
