The Matra Museum consists of the former Mansion of the Orczy family, a 2 hectares historic garden and a Natural History Pavilion. In the mansion shown the mammoth skeleton. In the main building of the museum four permanent Exhibitions can be visited: hunting history, local history, minerals, fossils. Natural History Pavilion - There you can see the permanent exhibition of natural history.
I really enjoyed this museum. I specially liked the collection of rocks/stones/shells etc. It also had some live animals too such as lizards and fish. It was reasonably priced to get in. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

You can meet exotic species, reptiles, big cats and the animals of the Hungarian fields and Forests alike in the tiny but continuously expanding Zoo.
Aim of our trip were the recently borne little lion kittens in this small zoo. The lion kittens' caressing is an amazing program for kids and also elderlies (every day btw 10-12 and 15-17 still in June 2015). You can't find a similar experience now in Hungary. Tickets are only for one round (the long of your visitation among the lions depends on the waiting people behind you). Otherwise just a small selection of wild and traditional Hungarian animals. Tickets for adults are €4.

Kekesteto is the highest peak of Hungary, with 1014m
At the same time one of the best ski slopes in Hungary. Close to Budapest, Eger, Gyöngyös and Hatvan.
I was having a day and a half ski trip. Nice 1 km long slope, with a poma and a t-bar ski lift, and very short queues, even on a weekend.
Prices are very fair, a day ticket (9AM - 4:30PM) is HUF4900 (~€15) night ticket HUF3800 (~€12).

In Hungary's highest adventure park, your breath will not only be taken away by the adventures that raise your adrenalin, but also by the Panorama that bursts upon your view. When it is sunny, you can see all the way from Kekes (highest mountain) to Alfold (the great plain). Oxygen Adrenalin Park, where on a 16 acres of land, from one-year-old to 99-year-old everyone found entertainment for himself. The park now has more than 30 games and adventure elements (eg, winter-summer bobsleigh, quad track, suspension bridge, canopy, rope bridge adventure park, climbing wall, eurobungy, playing house, archery, jet skis, water obstacle course, forest maze, tricky bikes, tower slides, etc. ...), buffet, restaurant, pension awaits the visitors.
This adventure park offers great fun for all: couples, families, even corporate team-building could be fantastic here. The greatest attractions are: bob, canopy, forest adventure trail, climbing wall & water baloon. Entry is free of charge, attractions and food are affordable, some attractions are free to use.

The treasury of Saint Bertalan parish-church in Gyongyos is the second richest ecclesiastic collection in Hungary. Not only goldsmith works of great artistic value, goblets, soled crosses, shrines and images of the Lord are preserved in the treasury, but other objects, pictures, books, vestments and statues.
Bellissima visita di questo piccolo museo che racconta di testi antichi e cimeli importanti per questi posti, simpatico il prete che ci ha accompagnato nella visita.

Well, this is only open in summer timetable, from 1st of april, til end of october. Bud i visit very often, it takes you to the gates of the Matra Mountains, with a lots of things to see (and drink :))))
Tickets are cheap. Really. Staff is nice. It takes you over remote small villages, and former film sets, mines, and the line is going out of the city, then suburban vineries, small villages, then forest itself. you will be not disappointed.
On the web, look for "mátravasút" images!
