The Passagem neighborhood is where the city of Cabo Frio started to develop. The Portuguese architecture is predominant which gives to the neighborhood that "old times feeling". Besides the architecture, it has lovely pubs, restaurants and bars around. Very good to with friends, family or your partner.

Just amazing...Emerald color Waters, White sand and Wilderness so well preserved made us feel special. The most beautiful beach we had the opportunity to visit in the Cabo Frio-Búzios region. Difficult access makes it more preserved and savage. Go. Yoú have come so far, now you can´t miss it!

The Nossa Senhora d'Assunção church in Cabo Frio does not look like much when viewed from the outside. It is painted in blue and white and in places the paint is fading. However, the inside is a different story. It is very beautiful with a decoration that fits the context of a historic church. The acoustics are wonderful and the gold details are quite pretty. It can get a bit hot inside, though... and there is noise from the street.

The beauty of this beach is right up there with the best, Cancun, you name it. Very clean which is not the norm for Brazilian Beaches, but the water is very cold for Brazilian Beaches that are also known for their warm water. Very lovely and a must see. There's also an old fort within walking distance that dates back to the 1600s.

White sand beach, gorgeous! The Mountains and ships in the back are great -Really enjoyed our short time here, wish there had been more within walking distance to grab good or drinks but at least there was a good amount of "beach vendors" walking around. Beach wasn't overly crowded which allowed to some great beach soccer.

A lonely (in the off season), windy, expanse of soft white sand, Suoeste is a piece of paradise. We have seen turtles, golfinhos or dolphins, penguins (unfortunately once we found a dead one covered with black oil), and of course, crabs and different birds. At the very end towards Pontal, the fishermen bring in the boats rolling them on tree trunks. I´m told that if you help they will share some of their catch. The waves are pretty strong and the water is somewhat cold but that is not an obstacle for those coming from colder climates. There are a couple of pousadas, but mostly it is residential and fabulous if you want to be away from crowds and in contact with nature.

There are several hire boats which take visitors on a short cruse. They normally keep to a set trip but there are several of those to chose from. The office is marked and the boat trips are a good buy. At high visitation periods (Christmas, New Years, Carnival and during June-July) photographers are on hand to take photos for memories of your voyage. Stops for a dip in the cool waters of the South Atlantic near Islands just off the coast really hit the spot! Seeing the Fort and the Fort Beach from the ocean really makes for very nice photographs to keep and share.

Many visitors feel compelled to visit only Cabo Frio or Arraial do Cabo... There are many Beaches in the area and Peiro is one of those many overlook. Peiro is its own village but part of Cabo Frio. The water is just as clear and cold--refreshing--the beach is just as white and there are many visitors. If you visit the Cabo Frio area, do visit the other Beaches as well. There are many different Beaches in the area and many are easily accessible.

Climbing this small hill in the center of town is a must, if you want to understand Cabo Frio´s layout. You can see as far as the Lagoa de Araruama, the Itajury Channel and the different Neighborhoods, including a distant view of Arraial do Cabo. There is a small closed chapel and, through a crack, we took pictures of a beautiful statue of the the virgin inside. We were told later that the virgin was originally in the church at the foot of the hill but every morning they would find her at the top, so they just left her there!
