The Stadtpfarrkirche St. Stephan can be seen from many places in Braunau am Inn, as its tower stands above any of the dwellings of this city. It's quite attractive, even inside, but then any Gothic church are quite lovely! Once inside it's easy to discover the 12 side chapels. That's quite a lot! Lots of art is displayed in that church for anyone to enjoy, just like we did!

This tower, which forms the main entrance into the central square, is a remnant of the Medieval town walls. Like the nearby Cathedral, it stands high over the town and is a great reminder of the town's long history.

As we were walking in Braunau am Inn, we discovered this lovely Fountain. It made the square looks way more attractive! Even at night this Fountain runs! It has an octagonal basin. I do believe it is made of marble. It has a date on it: 1675. I guess this is when it was made. Interestingly enough, according to tradition, a fisherman used to offer fish at this very Fountain, however he had to stop doing this in the year 1939.

You cannot miss this huge stone within the city of Braunau am Inn, the birthplace of Hitler. The city didn't want to honor Hitler for the numerous murders he had performed through his Nazis. The inscription of the Mahnstein is quite clear, although it is written in German. In English it means: For peace, freedom and democracy. Never again fascism exhort million deaths.

The old town hall in Braunau is a beautifully preserved building from the town Medieval period. The figure on the outside wall is a one-time mayor, known for his extremely long beard (he died when he tripped over it and fell down a flight of stairs). The building still houses the town offices. It is surrounded by other buildings from past centuries, all in excellent condition.

MHM - Mattigtaler Heckenlabyrinth der Menschenrechte

Reviewed By maihexe - Uttendorf, Austria

Nein, man
