Had to travel from Berlin to Oberwiesenthal with public transport. The final part of the trip really surprised me. I ad to board a romantic old fashioned train with 2 real heavy old steam engines! Like a museum train. Just circulating and rolling every day here, as if it were nothing special. AMAZING!

This is a moderate cross country track designed for families with kids and as such it is perfect. It gives some nice puzzles the kids can solve and can collect some little gifts once they succeed. Ask for details in the tourist center in the town.

In this new growing Skiarea you have about 11 different tracks and 11 lifts.
You have 3 blue routes and 7 red and 1 black track. Which makes it the ideal area for a day or two day trip.
It's possible to rent equipment at place for a cheap price. Food is quite cheap and tastes very well.
You have artifical snow so it's snow safe also in warm winters.
Day passes include entrance to the nearby Skiarea Fichtelberg where you have some more tracks. There is a bus available for tranfer for only a few cents.
Parking in Klinovec Skiarea is free.

Searching for something to do in Karlovy vary we chanced across this site in a brochure and looked it up on the internet. It's about a 30 mins drive from KV, but quite easy to find. It's at an altitude of c1,100m
In winter this is a ski resort - and it looks like they're investing in new lifts and a hotel. In summer it seems an area is given over to miscellaneous activities. It's quite low key and a bit ramshackle and geared primarily for Czechs.
They have a scary high ropes course and a smaller one for younger kids. The high ropes one isn't for the faint hearted !. There's also an area for shooting an airgun with .177 pellets, an archery area, a giant 16m swing and 16m free fall, as well as a trampoline and a bungee trampoline. Prices are reasonable - Cek190 for one high riope session, Cek 290 for 2, and Cek 150 for 100 pellets. There's a nice restaurant / bar with great views and the place seems popular with walkers and mountain bikers (this is a stop on a big CZ/German trail), or there are picnic tables.
I didn't know what to expect before we ventured up here and spent a lot longer here than I thought was ever imaginable. A really great place to go if you like doing adrenaline activities, especially "Go Ape" style high ropes as well as getting some good clean mountain air.

If you're in Saxony, you should visit this unique museum. The history and background is as attractive as the museum itself. Children grown up with microwaves and electric ovens don't know many of the objects here. Everything is attractive and interesting. A kind of nostalgy for my generation and curiosity for children.

Novako resort is a place where everybody can have a lot of fun and get incredible experiences. It is focused mainly on the children and on the ski and snowboard beginners. It is open all the year long. There is a ski area, ski school and all the services (rental, restaurant, ski service etc.) around in the winter. We offer you terrain karts, children´s world and other attractions in the sommer.
Superb facilities for beginners either skiing or boarding. Lifts are excellent and staff great, top slopes for kids or beginners of all ages. Highly recommend for little ones and parents if you want the kids to learn the ski school is top notch and the teachers are great. The snow tubing was great fun and all up the lift prices are great. Never crowded, only down side nowhere to really sit and have a break and a warm drink.
