Worth the trip especially in automn, the colors are really beautifull. Inside the park, there is a museum explaining how the genreral Yi Sun Sin defeated the japanese (but mostly in Korean). Apart from that, the domain is dedicated to the general family and you will see where his familly is buried. Interesting place!

This folk village was very good for walking and view about Korean folk village. This folk village's feature was a native people living there. The house in village had different subject from door to door. The village was larger than I think. There was many experience thing and traditional product. Good place to children and old man. The people aged 65 and over and a preschooler was free.

Absolutely spectacular views from multiple peaks throughout the park. The park has an abundance of diverse flora and butterflies seemed to be everywhere. The forest museum and zipline in the park were truly unique and well worth the visit as well. Park at the bottom for a 6 mile hike, park at the top for a 3 mile hike.

Well worth a visit. It appears in many Korean films. Architecture is western. There is a beautiful garden around the church.

This beautiful museum shows the traditional life and culture of rural Koreans. I was especially drawn to the small tables showing the varieties of foods in the country. The museum has lovely grounds that we were unable to visit - we were there in the winter!

I went to take pictures. There were plenty of variety of plants. Surprisingly, they have a bird house where you can feed them. That was fun too. They have a coffee shop and plant shop with good prices. I think entrance fees were 8K won for an adult. You can bring a lunch, there are tables.

The tulips and Gardens are fantastic. There are lots of photo spots, koi pond, and a man made waterfall. Bring coins for the animal food machines. There is a cafe that smelled delish, but bring a translator. The paths are easy to navigate and the animals are cute. It's a great way to spend a few hours on a spring day. Walking sticks are helpful on the steep path, but it is paved. Restrooms were ok. Adequate parking. I would go there again. It's 35 minutes drive from Humphreys/ Pyeongtaek.

As it happens, most of the old and traditional in Korea has been destroyed or given up in favor of the modern, pragmatic and "cool".
Not so with the Buddhist temples.
Bonggoksa is shining example of the real, calm, traditional Korean architectural style. It's located on the mountainside, which also makes for clean air and quiet.
I have been there dozens of times while living in the city, and never got tired of it. There are usually a couple of monks/nuns knocking about, willing to share some tea. I am not a Buddhist myself, but I always found this temple to be very peaceful.
There's an information board by the temple, and thankfully the info has been translated into English, so you can learn a bit about the dates and the architecture.
Getting to it is a bit tricky if you're using public transportation (I always drove there), but I know the public bus goes there (seen the stop).
The bottom line is that if you're in Asan - Bonggoksa is worth a couple of hours, for a bit of clean air and a think.
