In any business, there is no replacement for leadership presence. Especially so for owner operated establishments as is the case of Café del Rio. The service and food dramatically improved warranting this restaurant being rated the number one restaurant in Tete. The only negative can maybe be the sometimes too loud music but the staff has always turned down the volume when so requested.

This restaurant is somewhat hidden away but very nice once found! We had chicken livers for starters which we shared - a good thing because the portions are huge. Most of us had rump steaks which were done to perfection. The steaks were complimented by chips, 3 types of vegetables and a small salad. This may be over the top a bit but as this place is favoured by expats with good appetites it may be warranted! Definitely worth a visit.

Was pleasantly surprised to find an Indian restaurant in Tete, a city with a pretty bleak food scene otherwise. The Galaxy Indian restaurant has a simple atmosphere with one dining room and a handful of tables, but it offers an extensive menu of Indian dishes, plus a handful of other foods (hamburgers, french fries, noodles) and pizzas. The Indian dishes I had were very good, and were good value, with decent sized portions for the price. I was particularly happy to find dosas on the menu. The dishes were all a bit too oily for my taste, though. Service was quick. Restaurant accepts takeaway and Delivery orders.
Note that TripAdvisor lists a Galaxy Indian Restaurant in Maputo -- I don't know if there is one there or not, but this review refers to the one in Tete.

A Brasa Restaurant in Tete has a full and exciting menu for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a snack whilst enjoying the sun lazing at the pool. Whether you prefer an international classic or something a little more exotic, the menu has a great selection. Breakfast includes a choice of full-English favourites and lighter continental options. For lunch through to dinner the menu includes tasty salads, healthy wraps, seafood, steaks, pizzas and vegetarian options. The open preparation area with a flame grilled concept lends to the excitement of dining at A Brasa. Relax and watch the chefs prepare your meal whilst enjoying wine from the extensive wine collection or your favourite beverage from a wide choice of both local and imported drinks. The A Brasa Restaurant offers an outstanding dining experience in Tete. Situated in the main hotel building and leading onto the sun deck and swimming pool, guests are invited to dine either inside the restaurant or on the deck at their leisure.
This was my 3rd stay at the Tete Ferry Sun.
For me, this is the best place to stay in Tete. It takes you out of the craziness of Tete and being right on the Zambezi makes it nice and relaxed.
The hotel itself is fine, with neat comfortable air conditioned rooms. I normally get one on the river, which gives you a pleasant view, albeit with the city across the water.
The food is ok, but honestly Cafe Del Rio is close by and probably a better option.
I can recommend the hotel as a great business stay, with amenities like a simple Gym, pool, and a bar with ice cold drinks!
My preference when staying in Tete.

With rooms, a cinema, kids playground and a restaurant this place is having an identity crisis and it shows especially in the poor quality service in the restaurant. There is no clear management that I can see and very little initiative shown by staff.
The hotel rooms are fine, but the bathrooms need updating. Because this is also an entertainment venue there is much traffic and footfall late into the night. So don't book in here if you're looking for a good night's sleep.

Beautifully secluded treelined courtyard gastro bar and restaurant tucked away off the main rd into Matema. Specialising in Honest home made Gourmet Burgers, Piri Piri Chicken, Fresh local fish (Pende), Steaks, Snacks, Great Coffee, Teas, Breakfast and a Full International Bar including cocktails.
The food here is fantastic. Unfortunately it is far too noisy and music too loud for a relaxing time.

Rústico, ideal para quem gosta de sossego e conforto com sabores deliciosos, uma fusão da gastronomia portuguesa com a moçambicana.
Despite its location, is the best one in Tete. The plates are really good and the staff is helpful, also its owner. They have large menu, and you can choose from Beef chicken, seafood, or fish, always in portuguese style. Top dish is less than U$30. There are good starter orders and bottled, boxed or canned drinks.
