The restaurant at Hotel Retter is excellent. The fare is wide and varied, not fancy but all done very well. Staff are freindly and efficient. Everything they do, they do well.

The appliance of the restaurant is very classy and cozy and they have a beautiful big Terrace with a great view. The house is situated next to the church Mariatrost which is worth a visit. Mariatrost is about 30 minutes by car from the city centre of Graz and next to the restaurant there is a beautiful, big forest where you can walk your meal off with a stroll. The food is ok, but for the prices I expected a higher quality and a larger serving. The staff appeared very stressed and was not so friendly. The famous "Sacher Torte" was drouthy and a disappointment.

We came for lunch. The restaurant is located on the top of a hill with amazing views on the surrounding hills, vineyards and closter. We were sitting outside under big trees. There is also playground for kids with trampoline.
The food was very good and huge portions. Actually too big so by the time we go through two courses we had no room for dessert:-( the prices are Vienna level mid restaurant but for the quality you are getting definitely great value. The food is served beautifully decorated. Have the uhudler frizzante - it is divine!
Two adult and child with some drinks, total bill 80 eur. Backhendl (half chicken) for 14 eur. Steak 25.

This part of Austria is famous for fruit growing, wine making, international balloon competitions, cycling and fantastic walks. Grüber is on the shore of a lake called Stübenbergsee. Nearby is a wildlife park called Herberstein. The decor is very mixed and a touch old fashioned. The service is top class, fast and very attentive. We had a 2 course set menu, €11.90, homemade clear soup and a roast pork (Schweinsbraten) with dumplings and sauerkraut. Portion size was large and the food very well cooked. Other portion sizes looked very generous as were the cakes. They have a pizza Menu which I cannot comment on and other various dishes with chips. Aimed at families with children. I would suggest it is not a place for special occasions, but from our experience the food was of high quality, good value and generous portions

Do not expect the best coffee ever nor the best cakes, but this place has amazing charm and definitely worth a trip as while Pollau is somehow like from another world. Love the outdoor area which also includes kids corner. The service was very friendly. Would love to come back to try more of the cakes.

Best place in the area for Sunday brunch but they also serve lunch and dinner. You will enjoy speciality food of the local cuisine. Worth your trip

This is really high Class Cuisine you would not expect in this small Village away from Graz, but absolutely worth a trip!
The 2 Star Restaurant is part of a wonderful local Hotel and Restaurant existing long time already and well known for great food, serving also Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner apart form the 2 Star Restaurant "Der Luis" which is just open on a few days a week (call to check and make reservation).
The Service, the food and Wine, everything had been just excellent but not arrogant like in some other star Restaurants, you can feel the Background of the Restaurant in this small Village.
For the Menu they use a lot of local and fresh products, which my wife and me really loved. Everything was cooked to perfection in combination with a great, friendly service and a nice ambience.
We enjoyed a very relaxed and nice evening.
We also had been guest of the "normal" Thaller Restaurant and it was excellent too, so both Restaurant are worth a trip to Anger and its not so far from Capital Graz!
Thanks a lot to the whole Team for the excellent Evenings we had there!
Absolutely to recommend - best book a room there, so you can enjoy the evening and not have to drive - good if you decide for a few excellent Bottle of Austrian Wine!!

We have been there 2 times, the first one was the day after the New Year's Eve, they had a nice big buffet with life music and it was all very fine - prices, atmosphere, waiters. We thought wow.
Next time - in spring, we waited 20 min to order our drinks, then almost an hour for our meal (50-something minutes) and then had to hunt down our waiter to pay and go. Another thing also - the food quality was good, but 13(or 12?) euro for 5 (i'm not kidding) small-sized squids and 4 very small potatoes, isn't it kinda cheeky?
