Bay Bar & Bistro

Had lunch here and the place was almost empty so it was lovely and quite and had great views over the water. The steak was well cooked and the seafood platter for one was huge. The cook was really flexible and happy to swap the oysters for prawns and cook some other parts of the seafood platter without cream. This platter has enough food on it that 2 people could share it for lunch. Would recommend this place if you are looking for somewhere to eat at St Helens.

We picked up our pizzas and garlic bread and I'm glad we didn't eat in as the place seems bereft of atmosphere. Our food was nice, but there was nothing special about it.

Banjo's St Helens

I am the owner of this business and it currently isn't listed with Trip Advisor. I am also the owner of Banjo's Huonville (which is listed) and several other bakeries which I would like listed with Trip Advisor. I will now send several similiar messages with the details of each bakery. My email is [email protected]. Is it possible to have all the bakeries set up under the one Management Centre? Kind Regards Mark Maumill

On our tour of Tassie we had come to rely on the Banjo's Bakery chain for decent coffees and food - we were not disappointed in St. Helens!...consistently good coffee, delicious cakes and pies (can recommend the scallop pies) and pleasant, efficient service - what more could you wish?

It’s been about 10 years since I last had a scallop pie from this bakery, so I was excited. My scallop pie knowledge is get in to a bakery before morning smoko as pies and scallops will be fresh. Unfortunately It was late afternoon and they had to warm one up for me . Annnd the curry was gluggy and only just warm . Damn , but the taste was there . My advice get in early !

After unsuccessfully getting a table in other venues we were faced with home for a meal or the RSL, given we were already out and about we opted for the RSL.
We ordered and then after a very long time, we noticed that the food was randomly being sent out of the kitchen to tables.
After waiting an HOUR to receive our food I went to not complain but ask how long our order would be. The waitress was just brilliant, she was friendly and although not her fault our meal was over an hour to get served she was nevertheless apologetic.
The kitchen staff said that they were unexpectedly busy so the meals were late however, the RSL was only a quarter full ! how can that be busy, if you're not even half full!
The food was nice, we had to send one meal back because it got cold but all in all the meals were nicely average, pity about the absurd waiting time. From our perspective, the kitchen staff had NO system thus meals were randomly sent out.

I received a meal but after the others at our table still not having their meals served my meal went cold whilst I was waiting for theirs to be served, hence, the randomness of the kitchen system (or no system)
The next night we went to the local hotel which was full, yet we got meals, and lovely meals within 20 minutes!
Your staff need a system or you will surely lose customers, you've lost us, that's for sure.
As mentioned, brilliant, just brilliant waitresses and the food was nicely average, just the absurd wait time of an hour to get a meal.

My daughter and I stopped here for coffees and what we were served could not remotely be described as coffee! Very, very disappointing, given all the hype about the place, which I thought was actually quite shabby and cluttered - perhaps that is the "look" they are cultivating? The staff appeared rushed and harassed - not up to the standard of service we had experienced on our tour of Tassie so far - definitely not worth a return visit!

Bayside Inn

Reviewed By Jessica_Roams - Adelaide, Australia

We were a bit concerned turning up to St Helen's early in the week and finding very little open besides takeaway shops. Were very grateful to come across the Bayside Inn. The staff were kind and friendly and even though they had run out of the vegetarian curry the night before, the chef kindly made me a chicken pasta sans chicken, which hit the spot beautifully after a long drive from Hobart.
