We emailed Sankarest to ask if they could cook us some traditional Sri Lankian food. When we arrived we were very warmly welcomed into a beautiful house and seated on their verandah. The food was far beyond our expectations, so many different dishes, all so wonderful especially the shredded aubergine....... We have never tasted anything like it, it was amazing. If you are looking for a traditional Sri Lankian experience with wonder food provided by lovely people then this is the place your looking for.

The prawn cocktail was fantastic. We had the mixed seafood which was very good except the overdone fish. A reasonably priced Sauvignon Blanc from Chile was well chilled. Staff was very friendly and gave good service.

The owner is really friendly.
We had Rice and Curry with vegetables witch was really good.
Rice was served with 8 types of Curries witch all were delicious.
100% recommended.
The guys father is a fisherman and offers fresh seafood.
He was kind to offer free food for 8 month old baby that we took boiled potatoes and he loved it.
He saw baby was crying and brought a teddy bear for him .

The fat b@astard burger has everything you'd want in a burger and it's delicious, they ask you how you want it cooked and it was medium rare to perfection. Drinks are delicious, lovely setting, staff are great. Lots of people recommended this place to us and it's always great when recommendations pay off, this is a real gem and well priced.

We ate here twice during our three night stay in Tangalle and were very impressed both times. The host is a really lovely guy and the food is just as good. The best Sri Lankan food we've had to date. The different veggie curries were delicious, especially the pumpkin one. The place had a good ambience, helped by the 00s ballads sounding out. We can't recommend this place enough. A bit off the beaten track but don't miss it.

Nice coffee shop that sells fresh cakes, she does a nice latte, mocha and flovoured teas, slightly cost more than other places but we drank there as the quality /taste was better for us. Limited on food it's mainly snacks/breakfast items. I had all 3 flavours of porridge and they were all nice. She has a book swap, hires pushbikes and sold some local made bags ar a very good price.

This little place has amazing crepes with both sweet and savoury fillings.
The owners are very nice and welcoming. They even helped out when our daughter got sick because of the warmth. Thank you! You’re the best - we’ll definitely come back for more great food

We took our baby to this restaurant and they could not have been lovelier. The food was amazing and is extremely reasonable. A lovely place and atmosphere, we loved that they have playing cards on the tables. Definitely worth a visit for dinner.

Myself and my friends came here everyday when staying in Hikkaduwa because the coffee was fantastic and food was delicious! A little on the pricey side but it was completely worth it. So Great atmosphere and lovely staff. Super encouraging to see they are making an effort to reduce pollution too by not using plastic (bottles/straws) etc!
