Listen to the heartbeat, hear the rhythms of Africa and savour the Wilderness...one bite at a time. The best kept secret in Sodwana Bay South Africa!
We read such stunning reviews about the food at this restaurant, and opted to eat here for New Year’s Eve.
The waitress was slow, and had no idea what was on the menu or in stock.
There were dogs in the restaurant who kept walking in and out of the kitchen. Not sure how hygienic that is?
We waited 2 and a half hours for our food, which was cold and rubbery by the time it arrived at the table.
They pepper the food with so much Garlic, you are unable to actually taste the prawns and calamari.
The prawns they advertised as King – are actually Queen
This is a prime example of someone wanting to charge Jo’burg prices, but not deliver on the service or quality of food.
R200 for 6 prawns and calamari is ridiculously expensive
You will not see us again.

Maybe it was the fact that the manager was away... or the owner... or whoever... but our time at Pizza Place was far from good.
Unfortunately, our time was tainted by the incompetent staff member who served us. He took our order, and 1.5 hours later, we still hadn't got our pizzas. I think he was high on weed, literally, and served us with the speed of a tadpole in jelly. Eventually, we became so annoyed that we got up to walk out, and he finally brought us the pizzas. They had run out of most ingredients, and what we ended up eating was a make-shift pizza to appease our wrath.
In the end - we're happy customers because we ate pizza - which was good. It's just that the restaurant is in the middle of nowhere, and so supplies can be limited. Including good staff.
Ask if they have everything on the menu before you sit down.

The owners Jenny and Tarryn Smart are dedicated to service and quality. We are on the main road to Sodwana bay beach, surrounded by beautiful coastal dune Forests. Our pizza basis are thin made fresh daily as well as our homemade pastas. We also do, tender steaks, burgers, salads and delectable desserts. Come enjoy our cocktails or a espresso if you like.
We had a great lunch in a nice setting. Waiter was very nice and friendly. Wine was also very good. Definitely worthwile going there.

Sodwana Bay does not have much to choose from in terms of dining. Its also full of the "pink buffaloes" (sunburned Afrikaaner tourists) common in resort towns here. This place has a good view of those buffaloes (we observed one set tossing bottles into the street). The restaurant is part of a complex of services, including a dive shop, which is run by an eclectic bunch. The dive store owner, and possibly part owner of restaurant was a funky dude. The staff were great, checking on food availability and providing excellent service. Because there was not much else to draw on in Sodwana, we ate here 4 times. The food was hit or miss -- quiche was good, but the curry was basically just beans. The beer is stereotypically S African -- variations on a Coors theme. Try the wine instead, or a mixed drink. Fish and prawns got mixed reviews from other family members.

Nestled in the heart of sub-tropical Zululand you will find Mseni - the place of happiness, where laughter and joy resounds! Here at Mseni we aim to provide friendly service, excellent food and awesome views! While sipping cocktails and sundowners on our deck, look for the seasonal passage of whales or regular sightings of dolphins.
I have been to Mseni before, 2011 to be exact and I absolutely love what they did to the place. It really looks so much better and the service and food we got was absolutely top notch. I can't wait for my December holiday when...MoreDear Henk, Thank you for the great review of our restaurant! We are delighted to hear that you have seen a huge improvement under the new ownership and management, and we are looking forward to hosting you again in December :)

My kids and I are returning visitors to this new restaurant in Sodwana and boy do we love the mussels done French style in cream and white wine! You can tell by the taste that the owners are hands on in the kitchen!
There's no license but you're welcome to bring your own.
