Listed under Hotel Budir. We were not able to get a room at the hotel, but loved the restaurant.
Love this place. Just 2 km off the highway. Near the water. And perfect view of the glacier. The staff is warm and hospitable. Rooms are well appointed. Dinner was amazing. The cod and barley were perfect. And they had a Skyr dessert. My favorite when visiting Iceland! Make this your place to stay in west Iceland!!

This quaint restaurant is a warm harbor on a chilly day in Iceland. The fish soup
is world famous and excellent. The bread is exceptional and a nice compliment
to the soup. The hostess is charming and engaging. This is a great lunch for a
traveling photographer.

We didn't have Reservations so we had to sit outside. The view is amazing. If you sit next to the building you are protected more from the wind. Food was delicious! The seafood soup was light and refined. Vegetable quiche is yummy.

Stopped here as part of a coach trip tour as the guide raved about the place. It was already busy from an earlier bus and it was clear they just couldn't cope with the numbers. The menu choice was limited, we ordered two fish soups which at £18 a piece shocked us, we didn't pay those prices in central Rekjavik!!!
The tables were pretty grotty with piled up dirty dishes and we tried our best to pile them out of the way before our food arrived. The service counter where you order food gave you a slip with a number on....seems simple enough?! However the waitress was coming out and shouting out the dish names, It was chaos and most people had ordered the same thing and nobody knew whose was first. The waitress seemed quite stressed out, thankfully another member of staff logically decided to stick to the number system!! The soup really did not live up to the expectations or cost, I had better in town. Eventually our group all got fed and we escaped back to the coach much later than expected.

Between the four of us we got some cinnamon buns covered in chocolate, croissants, bread, and an orange and chocolate cake. The cake was the star! It was perfectly moist and the orange-flavored cake really complemented the chocolate frosting extremely well. Prices were great!

Hobbitinn is a small family business and on our menu is fish, pizza, salad and hamburgers.
We would not have eaten here if we hadn't read reviews on trip adviser as the windows were dirty and it didn't look inviting. However the fish and chips were excellent and included salad and coleslaw plus coffee for about £12 so not bad for Iceland. They also had burgers and pizza which looks good too. The shopkeeper was very helpful and spoke good English. There is a bakery nearby if you fancy a cake after

Excellent restaurant in Iceland. Kaffi Sif is a beautiful restaurant and a cafe located in the town Hellissandur on the northwest of the Snaefellsnes peninsula. It is open all year round and serves amazing local food. Wonderful tradition fish gratin, delicious vegetable soup, tasty rye bread, great home made bread, fantastic Sandwich, divine crepe with salmon, mushroom, cheese, blue cheese and salad as well as good value chocolate cake, distinctive blue berry cake, delightful waffle, for the cold and hungry traveler. Great views and soothing environment. They re is a nice veranda with a magnificent view to the beautiful Snaefellsjokull glacier. The restaurant is open for both lunch and dinner and is a definite must for those who enjoy relishing food and the experience that comes with it. The tasting menus is great. The wait staff is very professional. Decor is lovely. Wines are excellent.
We visited the place because my diabetic wife needed something to eat. Our expectation was a cake and stale coffee. What a surprise - the "meal of the day", cod and a tomato based vegetable soup, was excellent. I have to go back in memory...MoreThank you for coming ?

Cafe Emil is open over the summer time in the same facilty as the tourist information center in Grundarfjordur. We make sure that our cafe and dishes are always made fresh.
Not many places open during the winter of our backpacking trip. We waited for this place to open hoping they would have descent food. We were not disappointed! The lady that took our order was a very sweet and friendly woman. She was professional and helpful, service with a smile. I ordered the fiskisoupa (fish soup) and a ham and cheese Sandwich. There was also free coffee and water. The soup was one of the best soups I've ever had. It was creamy, tasty and very well seasoned. Ive been home a week now and am still thinking about that soup! lol Prices were very reasonable by Icelandic standards. My friend had the mushroom soup and she said it was incredible. Also had very clean restrooms. I highly recommend you stop here and try the soups.

Meistarinn is very well known for their special way of deep frying the hot dogs, and serve it with different sauces than any other hot dog stand in Iceland. You must try this when you visit Grundarfjordur.
I luckily found this stand on my last day in Grundarfjordur. I had been in Iceland for three days and had yet to try their famous hot dogs and I am so glad I found this stand. My daughter and I absolutely LOVED them! The nice lady at the stand asked me what I wanted on it and I told her to put whatever normally goes on their hotdogs and she added fried AND fresh onions and also ketchup and pylsusinnep, which is a sweet brown sauce that is to die for. Hand down, best hot dog I've ever had and my daughter agrees with this statement.

Hopefully not surprisingly, the seafood at this restaurant was exceptional. Which was a bit of a surprise for a tiny restaurant in a tiny town in the middle of Western Iceland.
