This restaurant has a very stylishly decorated interior with a separate lounge area for aperitifs. There is also outside space in a garden at the rear.
We visited on a Sunday evening, there was a tasting menu, an alacarte and a 3 course menu offer. We opted for the 3 course offer which ( in relative terms ) was a bargain at €45.
For us this choice was perfect. It started with a beef and veal carpaccio dish, followed by a salmon mains and finished with a delightful deconstructed dessert. Perfection from beginning to end. The staff were the perfect balance of professional and friendly.
If your anywhere close to this town don't hesitate to book in this restaurant.

We called in here before dinner for two glasses of cava, which seemed reasonable value at €6. We visited again on another occasion and had two glasses of the house red. This was a big mistake as it was probably the worst red wine we had ever had in our lives, it was undrinkable. We will definitely avoid the house wine in future.

Serves Meals But Is Mainly A Fruit And Veg Place Big On Their Pancakes As All Fruit Is Served With Them Many Locals Seem To Go Here For The Desserts Rather Than Meals
My husband &I visited this place last week; we have been before & enjoyed the pancakes. We looked at the menu but couldn’t read it as it is not in English!! Hence you don’t see the price until you get the bill! We ordered 2 pancakes with strawberries, I had cream, my husband ice cream we also had a diet coke & a small beer. Bill came was 31 euros!!! Bit hefty if you ask me can get the same food a lot cheaper in some of the other cafes. The place is clean & good service but felt a bit gutted that we could not see the prices prior to ordering the food. Wouldn’t go there again as found another place further up the street that was much better.

During our trip to Bruges, we stayed in a hotel in Sluis, and decided to have our last evening meal in Sluis itself, so we could walk back to the hotel.
De Frietstal is a misleading name. You would expect a snackbar ("fries shack") but it is a regular restaurant. When we went there in March 2014 we made a reservation in advance - totally unnecessary. Out of roughly 30 tables, only 3 were taken. Sluis centre was deserted.
After some beers as appetizers, we decided to order the mixed seafood platter ("visschotel van het huis"). Quite sizeable, and the fish was prepared well, but it was all fairly bland, with sauces that seemed warmed up and industrial. The fries and vegetables were ok, but not exciting either. All in all, a nourishing meal that lacked imagination. Good service though, by our local waiter.
But not good enough to go back I think.

We always visit here when in Sluis, I recommend the lamb its absolutely delicious, followed by the chocolate pudding, which is baked to order. Inside it has dark panelling and beautiful chandeliers with lots of candles, creating a very charming atmosphere. Staff are always helpful and attentive.

Had an invitation. A lot of familly-buisiness talk. Having a friendly staf (owners included).Option between fish (scampies) or meatdish. Hearing from my co-dinners Exelent. The beef was asewell exelent. Going back sometime, but soon.

This restaurant deserves a better rating than the so called 'Michelin stars restaurants' we visited lately.
If you are looking for a restaurant which serves high quality ingredients, great taste experiences but at the same time respecting the original taste of the ingredients, this is the right address.
We already visited this restaurant several times and always returned more than satisfied. The lady of the house is very friendly and correct and cares about her customers. The kitchen is very clean and the ingredients used extremely fresh, so you'll never return with an unwell stomach feeling. We always ate à la carte, and prices are very correct for what you get.
This restaurant is not intented for people looking for big portions wanting to return with an overfull stomach. We found the portions perfect and you still feel comfortable when you leave the restaurant, and that is what we like.
We think this young couple awaits a great future !

Sluis has many well-known and highly ranked restaurants. "De Vijverhoeve", although perhaps less known, should definitely be considered as one among those. It is a great restaurant that you should not miss if you want to eat really well, in an informal atmosphere and at a fair price. The kitchen as well as the restaurant staff perform at a high level. Mostly people choose to eat from the menu, which is changed on a monthly basis, so that we easily feel invited to visit the restaurant once again as they present their new menu on Facebook. The menu offers three starters, a main dish, cheese an a desert. From this menu you can choose to have 2,3, 4, 5 or 6 courses. They offer you a different wine that goes well with every course, if you want to. A three course lunch is currently offered at a price of only € 29,50.
De Vijverhoeve is situated just outside of Sluis, at Sint-Anna-Ter-Muide, a very small place between Sluis and the Belgian border. The restaurant is located in a nice little old farm-like house, with a greenhouse attached to it and with a big and very beautiful garden, where you can eat in summertime as well. The restaurant is currently in the process of being taken over by the next generation, who have already proved that a promisning future lies ahead for this restaurant.

Very nice restaurant with a well sorted choice of food. For the small hunger, there is always a Tapas menu with small but very delightful dishes. Try the meat balls in tomato or the Carpaccio.
The staff is friendly, quick and offer an excellent service. We will definitely come back.

We stopped at this place on our way back from France to the Netherlands. This place is no barn!!! An amazing smell wafted through the doors and drew us in. Had I known what the smell was, I would have ordered it at once! The place had a great ambience and there were lots of people seated enjoying themselves immensely at the gleaming white cloth covered tables. Our waitress was a little powerhouse, quickly attending to all her charges with a wonderful wholesome smile. Seated immediately and given menus, I knew no matter what we ordered, it would taste fabulous. My husband ordered an appetizer of Mussels and I ordered the shrimps appetizer, a dish we call BB-Q shrimp in New Orleans. The waitress promptly brought our drinks and a teaser of a sample dish prepared in two shot glasses that was absolutely scrumptious! In one bite -it was gone. Just as we were about to order more of that sample; our appetizers appeared. Sure enough, they were both so good and surprisingly filling, even though they were only appetizers! I had five huge shrimps on my plate. They were delicious. We asked for more bread and quickly received it for sopping up the succulent juices of the bb-q shrimps. My husband's mussels were also quite good, so we opted to share back and forth freely between the two dishes. Full, we paid our tab vowing to return very soon. Since it's only an hour from where we live, we plan to bring guests and return often. My mouth is watering just thinking about the experience and we are looking forward to revisiting very soon! FYI: there's a hotel right next door to the restaurant. If you're in the area be sure to stop by. The restaurant easily ranks up there as one of the best on my list of personal favorites of all time! Highly recommended
