Little to add to previous reviews - this is the real McCoy in terms of Tuscan country cooking, served with a smile by a proprietor who works his butt off to cover a large dining room but has time to chat with everyone. The simplest dish - pasta with ragu - was perfect. A bonus was the deli which remained open while the restaurant was open so we could stock up on provisions for the following day's lunch.

I visited La Carraia in June 2017. Do not let the line discourage you - it moves fast and it's worth the wait. If you are anywhere in the area, do not pass by here without getting a scoop, or two, or three! bb

This resteraunt specializes in meat , meat and meat.
Only open on certain days, weekends mainly we were lucky enough to eat there last night, Wednesday. It is by booking only and brings new meaning to the word rustic.
A hunters lodge which converts the kills into a carnivorion delight.
Be warned , go very very hungry. The meal comprises 8 courses all made and prepared on the premises. It is a 3 hr sojourn ... And you need every minute to deal with the courses.
On the table is a bottle of house red made on the premises, or by nearby couldnt quite get the transaction .
Course duck liver pâté on buschetta ( we think duck anyway)
Home made brawn or speck .... Not sure on Origen
Then 3 pasta courses , the best lasagne ever , no cheese just meat ragu rabbit / chicken and boar
The wide pasta name not sure with wild boar meat sauce
Thick thick spaghetti with duck meat sauce
Then spiced boar ribs and chunks of beef stew with mushroom
At this stage we were done, would suggest in retrospect not wolfing down all the pasta!
Followed by crumbed lamb chops, florentine steak strips with onion rings and roast potato chips.
Finished with tirimasui .
Superb!!!
2 bottles of wine , 2 bottles of water and all the above for 2 people total bill e63.
Spectacular experience well recommended

Perfect Italian dining experience. We sat outside, under a massive olive tree for shade, on colourful wooden chairs. The menu was in Italian only and pizzas are only available at dinner time.
The burratini with arugula and truffles was creamy and so fresh. The pastas were all perfectly cooked, aromatic and extremely satisfying.
Staff were friendly and chatty.

This very small artisanal Gelateria is simply delicious. It was our favorite in Florence and one of the best in Italy. We were served by the owner and master himself. It was so cool to speak with someone who took such pride in his work.
The flavors, consistency, and after taste were perfect. It was home made and delicious. The different flavor options are also very fun. I suggest asking for a couple of samples, in that they are served with a smile.
Highly recommended and so yummy.

via Pisana angolo via dell' Acciaiolo a Scandicci
We recently stayed in a wonderful location near Scandicci, that provided great accommodations, but no food. We were looking for a laundry after a few days of wearing the same clothes, and lucked into this little spot right down the street from the laundromat. We were a bit of a novelty, being from the US, but were well treated, and the waitress was happy to have someone to practice her english with (which was pretty good already!). We had dinner here a few days, tentatively starting with open-oven baked pizza, and getting more adventuresome each day. After a few days we were greeted like locals! This is not a gourmet place, just a great small place where the locals come to eat, or carry out. Need a place that locals like, for a reasonable priced meal? Give this place a try!

dark chocolate was water..... and pistachio definetely nothing special!
People are very nice and smiling, the choice is very wide, but Italian Ice cream can be much better!

Very good fried food and big smile for all!!!
Went here for dinner - don't expect a fancy restaurant. It is more like a bistro but you have the opportunity to sit outside.
You can choose between various fish and meat and other sides as chips etc. just mix it yourself and enjoy. Definitely worth eating here!
Very friendly staff as well!!
