When holidaying in the area of São Sebastião this is a must go to restaurant for a more upmarket dining experience. The restaurant is set on a wooden structure deep inside a dense forest (not far from the main road) and it looks amazing. The service and food are top quality and the price of course will be steeper than most other restaurants in the area as it is on another level. Plenty of mosquitos but they do provide repellent so it's all good...

Aqua is probably the best restaurant in the Camburi area mainly because people like to sit on the deck very high up above the town and look at the views over to the sea and on a great sunset night it is beautiful. But they are living on this reputation and the food does not match up.
There were five of us three adults and two children who love food and cooking.
We shared two starters ceviche and carpaccio of octopus of which I am a great fan and expert as I love it. I thought the oxtopus was frozen but it was served with watercress which was a nice touch and flavour.ceviche was ok. Have had better.
The couvert was the usual assortment of breads and tidbits all of which were fairly boring. I would rather do without the COUVERT and go straight into starters.
Mains were an interesting prawn risotto served with mango chutney. Nice touch and was enjoyable but confusing as the curry type flavour fought against the prawns. The others had seafood with palmito risotto. All perfectly well presented and cooked. But nothing exceptional.
The staff were below par and no charm. It irritated me beyond belief that our waiter scratched his head and arms all the time he was explaining the dish of the day. I hope he washes his hands before delivering the food. Very unsophisticated staff and not very helpful. Not trained. Then when everyone else was having coffee. I asked for mint tea. Yes he said we do fresh mint tea. Of course - it would be expected in a restaurant of this quality. He came back to say. We have run out of mint. We have no other teas. How ridiculous. They should be growing mint in their garden. Don't tell me with all their garden they have no fresh herbs . Also get into the world of international travelers who paying these prices expect better service and things like mint tea as standard. Wine list better than ogan down in Camburi but as usual very expensive. We had a muscadet from a supplier I didn't know and it was a 2012 and I thought it was going over. I would buy it in waitrose for £8. Here is was over £20 and was three years old. The wine was not chilled enough. Pudding was the best - chocolate fondant with icecream and chocolate sauce.
Lovely views peaceful atmosphere but come on guys you could do better. Some of the cooking ideas I didn't get. Why sauté prawns in Cointreau??? What is the added value?
880 reals with one bottle,of muscadet and one gin and tonic the rest was water.
The best value we had all week was the pizza/crepe house in Camburi village. Excellent food there for the price. The high end restaurants only open on Thursday Friday and Saturday.for dinner and Sunday lunch as they can't make a living except when the Paulistas come down for the weekend. So during Monday to Wednesday its pizza or rice and beans . It's typical of what Brazil is and they never improve or learn. We never mind paying for good food and service but when it's average it is annoying.

Prices correspond to restaurant's decoration and fancy location but not necessarily to the food. You can have equally good food for lower prices in Juquehy (at Paschoal restaurant for instance). But it is a nice place to sit and have a pleasant meal if you have money to spare.

Spent NYE here, had a great night, food and service were very good, my expectations are low on NYE, but I still think this was a good bet, even if not representative of a normal night they did very well. Very friendly and capable staff.

Spectacular food! Even simple things like mushrooms were perfectly cooked. The pupunha salad is great as well. I'm vegetarian but my family had a wonderful experience eating fish and shrimp dishes. Very efficient staff, very concern to explain the menu, always in good mood as well.
Price? São Paulo prices (or NYC or Paris prices!), so very expensive but we were not disappointed with the choice and the result (on the contrary: the restaurant is expensive but not snobbish and the bill was exactly what we expected for what we've got)
If your budget allows, go there!!!

Friendly staff in a wonderful environment. Not by the sea, but close to other restaurants. A place to go, since the pizza is also very very good. The quality vs price is excellent.

Whenever I'm in Maresias, I like to eat there. The atmosphere is pleasant, informal and friendly. The decoration in the restaurant is tastefully chosen. I find the countless African and Asian masks, which hang on the walls particularly impressive.
It is a beach restaurant that usually is.very well attended. I have already ordered the most different dishes there. I was always satisfied.
The Restaurant also has a large car park. A really nice restaurant.

Helio bar specializing in German cuisine, feijoada every Saturday with Pagoda, executives and alacarte dishes, weekend live music, beer Brahma
Hoje experimentei o Abadejo à moda do Helio, simplesmente sensacional, a cerveja como sempre, geladíssima e sempre pedindo mais uma, e hoje como em todos os sábados uma roda de samba deliciosa

Tapera Branca Restaurant serves the best in terms of brazilian food, with a complete buffet with traditional recepies from the state of Minas Gerais such as "Feijoada", grilled porc rib, "Tutu de feijao", "dobradinha", etc. Also you can always find a great variety of salads, pasta and sea food. The restaurant operates on the self-service system by weight, in which the costumer pays for the amount of food taken from the buffet.Tapera Branca was founded in 1995, and is known by its quality and the good flavour of its recepies, which are traditional from the house of brazilian home, without industrial made condiments.
I liked the BBQ area and the wonderful meats, although it was a little canteen like, the food was delicious and plentiful and nice place to enjoy lunch on a rainy day as did we...
