We had the mixed grilled fish for two persons. Service was good and they gave us a table right on the beachfront. The fish selection was extremely tasty and the service was professional. Great location and I hope to return

this little place is overlooking the beach, a few tables outside , on the pavement really and some inside, but always busy, always a queue. quite rightly so. ate there a few times for lunch and dinner. reasonable prices, good cooked food served quickly! great atmosphere, both guys work with a great pace, it is a v lively place. had their octopus in sauce- delicious, zorza- small pieces of pork with paprika and chips, anchovies with peppers, the usual pimiento padron- quick fried small green peppers with sea salt, ham platter, etc. all good, washed down with a good bottle of Rioja.

This is a modern restaurant just off the sea front in Sanxenxo. It offers a menu of fresh seafood bought that day from the market. The owner will buy in anything you want specially and he always has specials of the day.
We read other reviews before visiting Sanxenxo, and agree Sabino and the tasting menu should not be missed. At 38 euros it is the best value for genuinely gourmet cooking we have ever come across. Sanxenxo has a number of restaurants which do the abundant local seafood very well, but Sabino takes it to another level. The tasting menu comprises smaller portions of items from the a la carte menu, which are identified for you. There is little English spoken so it is helpful to have the dishes pointed out from the menu which has an English translation of the Spanish.
There were four seafood dishes all of which were delicious, particularly the razor clams with an intense sauce. The fish and meat courses were not small, and our only criticism if you can call it that was that there was too much food. They could easily have dropped one of the mains and we would still have thought it was exceptionally good food and value. Nevertheless I really enjoyed the grouper and suckling lamb dishes we had. The two desserts were both excellant. The local alberino white wines go perfectly with the food and the bill including a bottle and coffees came to 100 euros for the two of us. At the current exchange rate that was £80. In England it would have been at least double that.
We enjoyed all our meals in Galicia because of the quality of the seafood, but it was wonderful to find a restaurant which took the ingredients to another level. Service was efficient and very friendly and the chef came out to ask if we enjoyed the meal. We wished we spoke better Spanish to do justice to our appreciation. We went back to Sabino later in the week and choose from the a la carte, and were just as pleased with the food. For value though the tasting menu is unmissable - just don't eat the bread if you want to get to the end without feeling full.

We found ourselves in Sanxenxo on business before the beginning of the Spanish tourist season. Many restaurants along the harbor side were not yet open for the season. The restaurant proved to be a good choice. Food was well prepared and nicely presented. The service was friendly and attentive.

This proved to be a good restaurant with excellent cooking in the local Galician style and very generous portions
The pimientos de pardon were fabulous but with too generous a quantity of the very hot variety they took away the taste of the rest of the meal! The polpo was stunning but again a massive portion which I couldn't eat.
Amanda had the veal Milanese and it was a great dish
Definitely worth a visit and up the with some of the best in Portonovo

The calamares a la romana was the best among the restaurants we've tried in Pontevedra/ nearby. It was very tender and very tasty. Although, my Galician husband preferred it to have less/ thinner coating. The bread was very fresh and the pescaditos fritos (fried small sardines) yummy. I loved the ambiance, too. The restuarant looked clean. The price is normal except for the tortilla entera which was so huge that it cost us 14 euros. I personally liked it but not loved it because they didn't put any onion in it and it was quite runny in the center (as how it should be for some, if not most). But with my Galician sister-in-law, it was very good.
On the other side of the coin, the restaurant is packed as it is famous. The are tables so small. With only one or two waiters, expect to wait. Also, expect to find it hard to catch their attention. Even to these aforementioned things, we are coming back!
So our favorite restaurants/cafes so far are:
(For a meal/ *menu del dia) - not in order
Buras
*Casa Duran
*Alcrique
Rosendo (much much better churrasco than Xantares Galego; very good calamares a la romana)
(For coffee)
1. Cafe Moderno
2. Suportales near Peregrina Church
3. Carabela near Peregrina Church
(For tapas and drinks) - listed basically because of the very good tapas as my husband and I don't drink.

We were recommended this place by some locals in a vinoteca in Cambados (also very good), otherwise we probably wouldn't have happened upon it. But thank goodness we did, as it was an absolutely outstanding experience from start to finish. It seems to be a hotspot for local winemakers and chefs, and I can see why. Miguel was a truly wonderful host - his passion and understanding of Galician wine just oozed from him, and we felt completely comfortable putting ourselves in his hands to select wines by the glass for us to drink. There is nothing pretentious about this place - it is a simple taverna, but one that will bowl you over by genuinely warm hospitality, decent food and outstanding wines (with good glassware). Hands down our best dining experience in Galicia, we only wish we had arrived in a taxi so we could have enjoyed it even more...
NB. Portonovo itself was also a very pleasant surprise and was far more charming than we had anticipated. Worth putting an afternoon aside to explore if you like food and wine.

We ate three times at this restaurant. The first day we had luch and dinner and on our last night,as we had enjoyed it so much, we decided to have our last dinner there too. It is quite busy on the weekends (specially at lunch time), so it is convenient to book a table. The star dish is the stew ray fish with sweet paprika and potatoes, which is absolutely delicious and a must if you eat at this restaurant! We also tried the fresh cockle, prawns and squid, all delicious. The prices are very reasonable and the service is correct. I have to highly recommend this restaurant and would not doubt going back if I am in the area.

Everything in the menu is excellent. Service was attentive. Desserts were very good. You definitely need a reservation to eat here. I went twice in a week and had an excellent time. Good with kids! Lovely sea food!
