Our Restaurant and Bar both offer beautiful views over the blue Atlantic ocean. There is a Breakfast buffet as well as a comprehensive 'a la Carte' lunch and dinner. The cuisine served is predominantly Mediterranean and also includes some delicious local specialities. The wine menu emphasises the high quality of our world renowned Portuguese wines.
This restaurant is in the Hotel Albatroz and not far from Santa Cruz and the airport.
The meat is superb - veal or beef fillet of the highest quality.
Octopus carapaccio is wonderful.
See if they have the hot passion fruit souffle which is light and fluffy.

Restaurant is in a nice setting - an elevated position overlooking the harbour, with large panoramic windows. Like many other establishments in the area it produces a lovely garlic bread. Unfortunately that's about everything good I can find to say.
Both my wife and I chose variations on the espada theme. In both dishes the fish was way overcooked. The vegetable accompaniment largely consisted of a variety is squash (not my favourite food I have to admit) which was swimming in butter - probably some attempt to impart a little flavour.
Upon leaving the restaurant we agreed that a score of 3 stars was probably appropriate. However, given that we both suffered from indigestion for the next 24 hours I cannot give it more than than two. Others seem to have had a better experience than us. But I'm afraid we will not be visiting again. We have had much better meals at the cafe right behind the church in the main square.

We had a table outside under a huge umbrella which was useful as there was a rain shower. It was busy with a fun atmosphere with live music from a band in the Square. We had prompt friendly service. The food was very good and reasonably priced. The sizzling limpets were garlicky and very tasty. The local fish meal was perfect and the mixed grill was ok. We tried the Madeiran wine and at €15 was a bit pricey and not that smooth. Next time i will stick to the local beer. We enjoyed the evening.

We took the bus from Funchal to Santa Cruz and stopped here for lunch. The Menu del Dia was fabulous value. We sat outside in the sun and I enjoyed 'redfish' with salad and chips and my husband had the same but with potatoes. It was a very large portion, tasty and well presented.A glass of very drinkable wine or beer or coffee was included in the price of €5.95. I think that it's only available on weekdays.

In this restaurant, located in hotel PortoBay Serra Golf, you can appreciate the recipes of Madeira's cuisine, always with a rustic touch and traditional flavours. The products of Madeira are rich in freshness, genuine flavour and touches of exotic ingredients. Soups, meats and the most delicious fish from the Atlantic. .. Desserts like those our grandmothers used to make bring back memories from the past and well preserved traditions.
Dim the lighting and up the music a little. Currently it is that uncomfortably quiet posh place where the couple next to you are whispering but you can still hear their conversation.
Kir Royals, admittedly replaced willingly, were initially 60% cassis and so sweet my pancreas almost exploded.
Food was quite tasty but the pepper sauce on the beef was burninly salty. Didn't have the heart to send it back having already sent back the drinks.
This place could be amazing, but it needs a person in charge with higher standards to make sure that it is amazing rather than a little disappointing. The setting and the architecture is all there.

Visited Flor do Garajau a couple of times and can swear that they do the best Natas, crispy tart and a decadent custard filling that is firm yet creamy. The passion fruit cake I ordered was sweet but not sickening so and the sponge was light and fluffy. Delicious! I've noticed many locals walking in to buy bread or sitting in to have a coffee so I take that as a good indication to the standards to expect from this place.

Whistle stop tour of the bars before catching the roller coaster SAM bus back to Funchal.
Polite service , good English when my Portuguese failed me.
Massive single bola ICS cream cone for €1.95. Probably the best way to taste honey cake. About 15 flavours some yoghurt and sorbet included

Family run restaurant that serves great meat dishes such as the well known espetada. Most guests are locals, the owner has lived in several countries and speaks several languages fluently (English, French, Swiss German :-)). Very good service, very good price for excellent meals!

We stopped for a quick bite to eat. The hamburger was adequate. It came with French fries which were very good. Burgers were 3€ each. The maracuja pin has made Pravda (rum and passion fruit drink) was very tasty! Service was average.
