An attentive and careful restoration work has transformed the village into an elegant restaurant with great attention to detail. With Florentine hospitality and thanks to the kitchen chef driven directly by Libero and sons Lorenzo and Matteo, the Albergaccio today expresses the traditional Tuscan cuisine at its best. We cook food elegant yet rustic and sincere, that will delight your senses visual and culinary, a trip from classic flavors and traditional to innovative dishes prepared by chefs super qualified. Taking inspiration from traditional Tuscan recipes handed down for generations, all the dishes on the menu are meant for sharing. Using incredible Tuscan products, delicious dishes are created every day in the kitchen, paired with wines and ingredients so good that really speak for themselves.
The food was EXCELLENT! Each course built on the last, until the grand presentation of the standing rib roast all aflame. WONDERFUL! The wines for each course were well chosen. The entertainment was fun and pulled our tour group into the fun! We purchased a crate of wine while we were there, and another, because we gave too much of it away as gifts when we got home! Best experience in Italy!

This is truly an exceptional find in a small Italian village. The atmosphere is a combination of fine dining and the feeling that you are with family. The hostess/server was wonderful. I knew just enough Italian and she knew just enough English that we were able to order. Chef Maria also visited with us to explain several dishes and to offer alternatives if we did not wish certain ingredients.
The experience started when we were seated in the lovely dining room and served a cocktail and a bread soup - yes, it was a soup that tasted like fresh bread with olive oil and herbs. After this, we received our menus and sorted through many options from tasting menus to a la carte items.
We chose the tasting menu of local Toscana dishes. One of the courses had liver, of which the hostess was sure to make us aware. She offered to substitute a lovely porcini mushroom salad - it was truly delicious.
There were many courses, my favorite was the rabbit. We also had the wine parings. Each wine was from Tuscany and went very well with each dish. The dessert course was very surprising - a gorgonzola gelato with wafers. I enjoyed the salty/sweet/cheesy taste while my husband opted for the peach gelato version. The meal was about 125 Euros per person with the wine pairings and well worth it.
This experience is for those willing to spend time over a meal - at least two hours or more - and those willing to try something different. Remember that these are local specialties, not something we are used to getting in the States.
Overall this was a wonderful surprise and excellent representation of the area cuisine.

We stayed in San Casciano for 4 days and ate here twice. The food is excellent, the service pleasant. We had the beef stew, which is really pieces of beef in an outstanding sauce that is so tender it melts in your mouth. The gnochi was tender and the vongole full of clams. They speak enough English, which paired with our minimal Italian, allowed us to enjoy the story of the place and the family.
On our second visit "meat loaf" was the special and it was delicious. The sweet and sour onions side dish was perfect as a pairing. The price is VERY reasonable.... Go and you won't be disappointed.

Quaint and rustic Tuscan restaurant run by husband and wife who serve up outstanding courses and wine from a menu that changes daily. A little off the beaten path but well worth the trip. Had our table for the entire night. Loved the Burrata and steak. Highly recommend Gallo Giallo.

The Baracchina is a typical Tuscan countryside “trattoria”, where simplicity combines with genuineness.Born in the 60ies as a shack where, on weekends, people from Florence would go for picnics, it slowly evolved into what it is now, a trattoria with an easy and informal atmosphere.

The Baracchina is suggestive and cozy in winter, with its small lounge heated by fireplace and wood stoves, and striking in summer, when meals can be taken in the refreshing shade of secular oaks and cypresses.

The owner likes to recall how thirty or more years ago Angiolino used to barbecue huge steaks while his sister cooked penne strascicate and beans the Tuscan way.

A short waiter served the dishes and, during the pods season, yelled not to throw the hulls to the ground.

The management changed several times, with more or less success, until the Baracchina nearly closed down in the years spanning the two centuries. But the place is cozy and it has what it takes, so why not resume the principles of the early years, which were simplicity and genuineness, combined with a fair price and a professional and skilled management.

This is the new/old Baracchina, a “substancial” trattoria, the ideal place for those who wish to eat well, no frills at an honest price. Perfect for an informal dinner as well as for the Sunday lunch, and for business or tourist luncheons. You will also find a suggestive glass veranda surrounded by huge trees, especially suited for banquets like communions, business meals, birthdays and so on.
Local friends took us to this delightfully simple and simply delightful place. Nothing fancy on the menu but authentic Tuscan dishes though mainly for carnivores. However, in the antipasti, primi and contorni sections, also vegetarians will find sufficient choices of Tuscan specialities. The food is not fancy but fresh and well prepared, the local wines are delicious, and so are desserts. Coffee is outstanding. And the final bill for a four-course meal with wine and coffee was moderate. Having a car to get here is sine-qua-non. Ample parking under the trees. Definitely a place to return to.

A hilltop village a small restaurant, lots of conversation, wine and fine food. life doesnt get much better than that. but rarely do you find a restaurant that delivers on exactly those promises - this one does. welcomed warmly, wine on the table, extensive and excellent local selection of food - it was all perfect down to the vin santo and cantuccini. when can i come back?

Montebuoni The restaurant is a quiet corner in the hills around Florence that 'primarily' kidnapped some years ago Emilio Marchitti, chef established by a career of over 35 years, almost all spent in Tuscany at the best hotels and restaurants in Florence and surroundings .The creative cuisine of Emilio, a restored environment, an outstanding view over the valley of Greve, a beautiful Terrace overlooking the countryside of Florence.
I came to ristorante montebuoni and was welcomed as family. All the staff are brilliant especially Emilio. He is not only the chef but drives the mini bus up the mountain. The food is wonderful and plenty of it. The views are amazing If you are looking for a great experience in Tuscany may I suggest you go to this place.

Located adjacent to a motel, expect the unexpected-an extremely elegant and upscale fish restaurant! The patrons often drive from Florence to eat here it is that good. The atmosphere is extremely elegant with well appointed table settings and very nice quality cloth napkins. The wine and grappa list is extensive and outstanding. The menu does not change, that is really my only criticism, you can get burnt out eating here regularly. They have an outstanding cold seafood selection as well as tower presentation, very nice for an elegant evening. They have a variety of primis, both cold and warm. The pastas are served tableside in the large pan it is cooked in. For a high end restaurant, you would expect it to be plated instead of self serve. The spaghetti allo scoglio is excellent and highly recommended. For mains, they always have a selection of daily fish and you can have them cooked grilled or baked in salt. They are fileted tableside. The mixed fish in breadcrumbs is very good. The frittura mista is excellent, with your choice of fish. I do wish they offered it as an appetizer. Dessert is premade and just ok compared to the rest of the food. The restaurant is always busy, weeknight and weekend. Make Reservations. Parking can be a challenge with a small lot in front, or you can park along the road in front. Service is usually very good. Definitely the best in the area, and worth a drive and a visit.
