We have looked forward to this for a long time. It was closed when we were here last. Lovely restaurant, attentive staff. Good menu, but expensive. Great attention to detail, we had two starters, a main and desert. Starters were artichoke served in tempura batter, and, jambon sec with omelette and poached egg on top. Both excellent. The main was duck served with a delicious sauce. Pudding was ice cream and tiny chocolate cakes.

Welcome to Les Frères Ibarboure where culinary excellence and the art of hospitality run in the family. The new generation of brothers, Xabi and Patrice Ibarboure are now at the helm of this Michelin-starred gastronomic restaurant on the Basque Coast. The 2 young brothers, who enjoy a close relationship and share the same sense of perfection, use local and exotic ingredients to create inventive menus that reveal influences from around the world while revisiting the family's time-honored recipes that have built the establishment's reputation.
The very best possible food, atmosphere and service. It is as good as anything that the most exclusive restaurants in London provide, and is less expensive.
The building itself and the grounds are exquisite. The staff are impeccable and the owners are delightful. What a treat it is to go there.

Navrée pour mon retard, mais je voulais vraiment signaler cette halte agréable;

Such a shame, this used to be a great friendly casual restaurant with great food, but since it was taken over it's lost its appeal. We've tried again several times, but experiences such as very slow service, cold food, tasteless food, smoke alarm going off for 20 minutes and even cold inside (kept my coat on), have put us off, except for the take-away pizzas, which are still good thanks to the proper pizza oven.

Helpful staff, well priced meals, choice of meat and fish dishes, as the usual basque options. Waitress was really lovely to us.

"The Ithurria Isabal family have been welcoming guests to the Ithurria Hotel in Aïnhou, France, for three generations. Set in the Basque countryside, the hotel has a warm, rustic ambience and is located close to the coast and the Spanish border. The dining room is the heart of the hotel, and with its terra cotta tiled floors, beamed ceilings and antique furniture the restaurant is ideal for cosy, romantic meals. Head Chef Xavier Isabal cooks up superb family recipes, and we love the Ithurria's signature foie gras pie cooked with ceps and fillets of wood pigeon served with a salad dressed with walnut oil and wild cherries in vinegar; and the Stephane cup – Bourbon vanilla ice cream with Chantilly cream, grilled almonds and hot chocolate sauce. "
Went for dinner with Spanish friends on a Saturday night; quiet dining room, spacious, in an old building with modern furnishings. Perfect service, attentive and unobtrusive. One of the top chefs in the Basque world, and the food shows it! Exceptional wine list, featuring regional wines of excellence, including a first-rate selection of Iroleguy wines (nearby).
Over the years, we have been to almost all the top-rated restaurants in the Basque provinces in both France and Spain, and this one stands out for the quality of the cuisine, modern presentation and classic flavor combinations. Strongly recommended; merits a drive to this as a destination!

Food was excellent with a mise en bouche before the entree. Service friendly and very professional. Little touches make the difference like only my husband ordered a coffee but it came with a petit four and chocolate for both of us.

Booked three days ahead for Sunday lunch for three. On arrival, the restaurant was full. It's a modern, stylish environment located at the back of a strip mall. The kitchen is open to the dining area, and a very professional equipe to boot.
Starters are around €10, mains €20, puddings €7, with set menus at €13 (lunch), €19 and €26.
The carpaccio, and oeuf poche appetizers couldn't be faulted. My lightly grilled chiperons squid on diced squash and tomato with lashings of olive oil and a sallad on the side was perfection in its simplicity. As for mains, the sweetbreads retained their delicacy, cooked a point, with juicy girolles underneath; the gambas with risotto another excellent choice. For puddings there's a deconstructed baba, where you have your choice of sirop flavour. Light and airy and well presented, but for me it didn't beat the original.
An excellent choice of local (French and Spanish) Basque wines are available. The bill was €125 for three - for the quality of the cuisine, a steal.

without a doubt the best food we have eaten anywhere in the world, the tastes just exploded in your mouth, the "amuse bouche"alone was a gastronomic experience, i am still salivating 5 days after returning home, and writing this,if you visit Biarittz, (we stayed just 3 miles down the road at the superb Chateau de Clair De Lune)forget the hundreds of other restaurants, and just treat youselves, to a meal I know we will never forget
