On my way back from Québec City, I stopped at Casa Flora for a quick dinner before continuing my treck home. They do not serve liquor or wine, it is a bring your own wine establishment. A bit of a disapointment but not their fault, this is the type of restaurant. I ordered a breaded shrimp plate that was quite greek style (sort of an imitation of Casa Grecque). At first, the look was ok but when the tasting began, the rice was bland from having sat in the warm table for to long. The same goes for the garlic butter that tasted almost stale (again coming from the steam table). All in all, the food was acceptable at best. Will not return.

I was visiting family in Saint-Hyacinthe and did go to Brulerie Mondor every morning for a Cappuccino. This place has been bought by a young guy and he is revamping the place. It looks very nice. The employees are offering a very good service. Wifi is free. I will go back next time I am visiting family.

We were two couples traveling from Plattsburgh, NY and Quebec City and were looking for a lunch stop. Many reviews said there were not really good places to eat between Montreal and Quebec City. We stopped in Sainte Hyacinthe in hopes of getting a Quebec map from the tourist Information place, which was pretty close to the expressway. While there, we asked whether they had a lunch recommendation and we were enthusiastically given directions for a short drive to the "old town." There was an easily accessible parking lot, then we walked along several blocks of attractive buildings, store fronts and restaurants. We chose Le Bouffon and were all very happy with our meals and the service. I had the Le Sandwich Club - which was on a baguette rather than the traditional two layers of bread, and came with fries. My husband had their hamburger special, also with fries, and our friend had the house poutine - all were very flavorful, especially the great bacon!

Every year we go to Saint-Hyacinthe to visit friends we've known for forty years. Two years ago we dined together at the "Au Vieux Duluth". We were very impressed with the quality of the food, the atmosphere and the selection of items on the menu. We returned this year to find it was still good but had come down a notch. The menu was more like the menu of a 'family restaurant' and the plates arrived with the potatoes and rice combination of the usual American-Greek restaurant. We were a little surprised because this had not been our experience two years ago. My husband and I had the filet mignon and it was very good. We all brought our own wine and we all had a very good evening.

The food and service in this small, intimate restaurant are superb. The flavour in the smallest of dishes was perfectly balanced, with great portions. The place was packed and I walked in, but they found at spot seated at the bar and the server/owner/manager offered the perfect suggestions and spent time explaining the French menu to me. It was a wonderful experience. I would suggest a reservation, as it is small.

Enjoyed a casual, easy going dinner at Scores while staying at The Holiday Inn Express next door. The food was very good - we had no complaints....rotisserie chicken and ribs...good fries..nice bottle of wine. Our waiter was attentive and we sat in the sun porch area as it was less busy. We would certainly go there again.

l'Espiegle seems to be a fusion of French and English culinary cultures. Take for example the Fish & Chips. The fish is perfectly fried in a crunchy coating. The fries are actually house made potato chips. The coleslaw marinates in a vinaigrette. For dipping there is tartar sauce and (count them) 3 different mayonnaises: traditional, pesto and Cajun. All of these elements are deconstructed across the table. Missing are my malt vinegar and my wife's Heinz ketchup.
The lure of this restaurant is the menu. It sells itself with great service, beautiful presentation, and exceptional quality. It limits itself with its prices.

We got a seat outside, had great service, yummy food and a nice wine. We took the option to have an appetizer, dessert and tea / coffee added for $12 (we just got one of each and shared), along with a Half and half pizza it was ample for us.
Loved people watching, and getting to meet and talk to a local family.
Great place, well recommended.

Driving to or from the States and Montreal or Quebec, one can be at a loss as to where to eat. Twice recently, we took a short detour to the historic town of St-Hyacinthe to have lunch at Dame Tartine. It is affordable, delicious, full of local life, and with excellent service. The menu has crepes, omelettes, sandwiches, etc. as well as excellent coffee. Across the street is an upscale market with many vendors so if you need to bring pastries or anything else to your destination, you'll be in luck.
