Saturday And Sunday Brunch From 8:00 Am To 2:00 Pm Or Choose From Our Menu For A Lunch Bar Hours Are Monday To Sunday From 11:00 Am To 3:00am
I will not comment on service since there was an event in Rigaud and the restaurant was extremely busy. So though the service received was lacking (very long wait), I cannot blame the staff.
The problem lies with the food. My order was for spaghetti with meat sauce au gratin. It came with almost no sauce on the spaghetti. I had to request additional sauce which was provided and still was inadequate. No bread was provided. Soft drink was ordered and received right away. However after waiting nearly 45 minutes for food the drink was watered down and warm. Asked for a glass of water and received a glass of tap water with no ice and not cold at all.
The worst part of the meal was my wife's dish of BBQ chicken leg. The chicken was not sufficiently cooked and raw on the inner portion of the leg. This is both unacceptable and can be dangerous. She did not eat most of it. The fries that came with the chicken were only partly cooked as well.
For a family-type general fare restaurant, I would not recommend their food to anyone. Very disappointing.

Returned this weekend to this wonderful country auberge type restaurant in the forest outside Rigaud Quebec in Ste Marthe. As always the warm atmosphere was welcoming as were the owners and hosts/chef. Whilte not an extensive menu with about eight apetizers and something similar for the main dish, the items cover the spectrum with two fish, a steak, lamb, chevre salad, pork loin, chicken, and pasta. We had two different apetizers...the escargot wrapped in pastry with a garlic sauce were incredible...and then three different main dishes. My sole was wonderful and my companion's pork was equally delicious as was my colleague's lamb chops. every dish was attractively presented on a table set with linen and fresh fall decoration including a small pumpkin. The overall atmosphere is very warm and inviting and especially so in winter when the large fireplace in the centre is lit. Dessert was decadent...the home-made maple crunch ice cream, the chocolate profiterole and the slice of muti-colour cheesecake. And naturally as the owners also make their own chocolates the meal ends with a tasty plate of their home-made chocolates!

Do not drive by this restaurant....it may looks like an unobtrusive simple wooden building with a Take Out window facing the main street in Rigaud...they serve the best food you will ever find in a "fast food" steame' "joint"...everything you eat is delicious - the owners and staff are very friendly and the place is spotless...they also have a covered outdoor area with picnic tables...and plenty of space indoors too for you to enjoy everything from hotdogs and fries, hamburgers, poutine, pizza, home made soups and sandwiches....we recently returned to Rigaud where we lived for 22 years..and our first and most anticipated spot - after being away for 15 years - was to have lunch at Hamelin's....it was as delicious as ever. We recommend it highly...but do order a steamed hot dog with fries if this is your first time...then you will understand.

This is a nice rustic restaurant on the outskirts of Rigaud. Went for dinner with a friend and we were seated right beside the fireplace...heavenly on a cold winter night! Food was amazing! The garlic cheese bread was sinful! Great place with wonderful service!

Our sugar shack, la Sucrerie de la Montagne, has as a Mission to make you discover Quebec's traditions; a traditional menu awaits you which included : homemade bread, ham, sausage, meat pie, pancakes with maple syrup and maple taffy on snow. We have singer-musicians who will entertain the halls in our sugar bush.
This was a highlight for us in Canada. We went with a group tour and all the hype was justified. Commentary and explanation was enthusiastic with the appropriate French accent. Breakfast amazing with maple syrup on fries, eggs, bacon, baked beans, toast, sausage etc. Music a bonus.

La Sucrerie Lavigne is a family business located in Rigaud, west of Montreal, offering customers an excellent sugar shack experience since 1957.
We were a large group who usually go to another cabane a sucre in the area but we decided to try something different simply because it was unlimited taffy on snow and you could bring your own wine (although we met for breakfast so didn't bring anything). It was very chaotic .... the line that starts for the buffet and the place to buy tickets is together, so people were getting upset about the double wait. The food was mediocre, ham was warm cold cuts and not actually ham roast. Bacon was not your typical bacon either. The food is cooked then placed on a table without warmers, but luckily the food goes fast, but I found the potatoes to be cold and I had to wait for a fresh batch. I asked for butter but was told they didn't have any. Not much actually cooked with maple syrup and only one half bottle of syrup on each table for about 15 people.
It was very crowded so we had to sit by the front door that was constantly being opened. So we ended up eating with our coats on and the kids gave up eating because their hands were too cold. Once we went outside to get the taffy on snow, that's when it got really chaotic. There is a small courtyard area that is very cozy with an open fire but can get really crowded quickly. There was a very small window where you can get the taffy on snow and then you stand should to shoulder trying to eat it. My daughter has long hair and as soon as the wind blew, her hair got caught on the strangers taffy around her which created a huge mess! They also have their horse and sleigh ride that runs right through the courtyard. So every 10 minutes, everyone has to move to one side, making it even more crowded.
I have been to several cabane a sucre in the area but this one was my least favorite. It could be very quaint and cozy except that they allow too many people into a very small space. I would definitely suggest going elsewhere.

Restaurant open to the public by reservation only in March and April for traditional spring maple menu.
We are always delighted to experience the superb buffet at the Sugar Shack of l'Auberge des Gallants. Don't understand the negative reviews as we have tried many Sucreries in the region, as well as around Ottawa/Outaouais. We are very discerning consumers as well as repeat...MoreThank you for your positive comments! The negative comments make the positive ones stand out even more!!!
