Potsdam was the residence of the Prussian kings and German Kaisers until 1918. It is the site of the parks and palaces of Sanssouci, the largest World Heritage Site in Germany. The city is now the capital of the German federal state of Brandenburg and a home to three public colleges and a major film production studio.

After seeing the Sancouci palace we saw across the road a sign for the beer garden. But this was no beer garden but the patio for the Movenpick Cafe. It was busy but we snagged a spot. So glad we did because it turned out to be one of our favourite spots in Germany.
They have a great menu with many regional dishes with pairings. We went for the veal in white wine with mushrooms dish as well as the pork medallions in a cream sauce with mushrooms and bread dumplings. Both dishes were large and oh so good.
Couldn't resist a scoop of their excellent ice cream to finish off the meal.
Make a trip to the bathroom before dessert and check out the amazing dessert display inside their elegant building.
Our waitress was pleasant and worked very hard despite the lunch crowd.
We highly recommend this fine place.

We spent a great day in Potsdam and took a break here for lunch. The service was excellent. The waitress was very helpful and patiently walked us through the "written in German" menu in English so we could figure out what we wanted. The food was served fairly fast and was probably the freshest and most enjoyable meal we had during our 5 days in the Berlin area. Great place and well worth a visit.

There they are again...the Huguenots! Because of their fantastic craft-skills the Prussian kings welcomed them in Potsdam at the time. Since the Dutchies did not fully occupy the place made available for them, you also see French influence in the Dutch Quarter. The owner spend many years in France and brought a nice French touch back to Potsdam. Very good 'Flammkuchen', nice Terrace, and not very main stream and touristy when we where there. We even took some Breton Fish Soup with us. Recommend to us by a local! Service at the beginning was somehow annoyed, but it turned out to be a very nice service. Just be a bit patient!

Had it not been for our guide (see Explore Berlin Tours), we would have never found this lovely neighborhood gem. But we are so glad we did. The menu was classic German, lunch delicious, Pilsner cold and satisfying and the setting gorgeous and scenic. It...MoreDear brandarchitect, The "Kades" say thanks. Well Established Fish Restaurant - Proer Fish, Good Service, Reasonable Prices
I don't rate many fives. This meal deserved it. The service was flawless. The house salad was fresh, tasty, and had a wonderful dressing which I had on their recommendation. The salmon soup was the incredible...better than the best lobster bisque I've ever tasted. The broiled plaice was very good. The salmon entree even better. Chocolate mouse excellent...red berry gruetz with vanilla ice cream even better. Wine list varied with superb quality at reasonable(by American standards) prices. We'll come back if we ever visit Potsdam again.

A very well placed restaurant in a busy vibrant square, lovely to sit outside if the weather is good. Extensive menu, we were fortunate to have German speakers with us, but the staff are helpful if you don't understand . The Reissling wine was very good, portion sizes are quite large so be mindful of what you order!

Gut bürgerliche Küche, verfeinert mit internationalen Feinheiten aus Frankreich und Italien sowie Fischgerichten
After a day of sightseeing and lots of walking, we came upon this restaurant. The staff are very obliging, the food is hearty, nicely presented and very welcome. The bottle of white burgundy to accompany was light and full of flavour. Well worth a visit.

This cafe restaurant added an extra table for us to sit outside and served us with some good beer and wine while we dined. They had four choices of vegetarian food, I chose the mixed veg with a curry sauce and saffron rice, my partner had a mixed salad with grilled chicken. The food was served with good sized portions and was well cooked and presented. The rice was mixed basmati with some fried in spices which made it more interesting. The salad was well presented with plenty of well cooked chicken. A very tasty meal and at a good price too.

We had lunch here, it was cold outside. Waiter was not interested to give us table for three, although, on each table there was reservation. Finally, one of the guests, who was leaving call us to his table. Once when we settled everything was ok.This is more French restaurant , but amount of food on the plate sis more on the German side.We had good French onion soup , two Schweineschnitzel "Wiener Art" and Elsässer Flammkuchen , and everything was good , pretty fast served.

Attention: Until 22nd March 2018 we are closed (winter break). From 23 April 2017 we will be back for you as usual (Mon-Fri from 17-22 o'clock and Sat, Sun, from 12-22 o'clock)
We stayed on-site and used this restaurant a number of times and each time the food was exceptional.
Local produce, freshly cooked and very generous portions + staff that are very friendly and attentive = A lovely meal with a lake view as well.
Can personally recommend both venison dishes if meat is your thing, if not non-meat eaters were also well catered for and when it comes to the 'Old Swedish' WOW!
