Went to the Beamish for lunch before going to the theatre. Choose this place because of the outside patio area. The place itself is dated but the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was fine and we ended up back here at the end of the day for a drink.

I took my family here a few weeks ago....it was a very busy Saturday night. The restaurant was packed but service moved so quickly! All of our food was fantastic, hot, tasty and perfectly done. The wait staff, despite being so busy (good food tends to make people visit again and again) were so friendly, polite, helpful and seemed to take a genuine interest in ensuring that everything was perfect for our visit. Everyone was so professional both in their demeanour and appearance. Can't wait for out next trip to this fantastic restaurant. Great job to all staff!

We recently came here bringing family members from out of the country. In the past, we have been impressed with the food and the service. We were given a lovely table, but that was about the extent of our enjoyment on this occasion. The food was not up to past standards. Some of our dishes were quite bland tasting. The service was ok. A few members of our party used the restrooms...a challenge...upstairs and what feels like out on a balcony. We returned to discover that my husband had left...running down the road to acquire cash from a bank. We didn't need this additional aggravation. The restaurant did not take debit or credit and we were not informed of this when we arrived. As we left, we saw a small hand scrawled sign stuck to the door, not in any normal human's line of vision. This was an expensive evening for four people and not worth it. We won't be back as we have now found better local restaurant options.

Surprisingly I cant find much on this little bakeshop. It is unbelievable! Value, quality and customer service that would shame most businesses. I would drive from Toronto, just for the lemon squares...and the date squares...oh and the brown butter cookies. Well you get the idea. I think this gem has only been around for a few months. The girls that work there are unbelievably friendly. On the way to the cottage? Out for a drive? Do yourself a favour and stop at Queenies.

This restaurant is located in a beautifully restored old building with great views of the river. The service was excellent. The fresh bread was delicious. The soup and salad were good. It was very busy and we were beside a large noisy table which made it difficult to have a conversation.

We pop into Dreamers Café to enjoy a coffee and their famous cookies which are made fresh daily. They are really yummy. It is a quaint café serving good food. You can also sell some interesting merchandise. It is the perfect place to go to for a light lunch before going to the Capital Theatre, which is just a few doors away.
